I assume the 1st half of this game thread is full of hot takes that changed in the 4th qtr. Turned out to be a beautiful day in Ames for FB. Got to Ames around 12:30 and the skies were clearing and it turned into a great FB Saturday. Nice to see the team have a strong game (minus some punt recieving  )

We found a formation that allowed us to run. 2 or 3 TE's with one being big #97.

Early on the OLB/DE was crashing from the backside and disrupting the running game. We made the adjustment to use 2 or 3 TE's (sometimes one on each wing and sometimes 2 on the same side) and it took away the OLB/DE crashing.
So who is number 97? There was no name on his jersey.

This won’t go over well, but…when looking for OC I think it’s important to look at someone’s consistent production, at any level. X’s and O’s are the same everywhere.
I’ve been paying attention to Morningside (IA) who has avg probably 50 pts a game for 5-6 years now and won multiple NAIA Nat’l championships. Like Leach and many others (even Urban Meyer) started small I think Morningside OC would be a big up and comer. The guy knows passing game, run game, protections, schemes, and blitz protection. Idk, just an out of box thought.

Maybe as a position coach or analyst. Or maybe UNIs OC. For P5 that’s risky.

It is, but Gus Malzahn came from the high school ranks, straight to Arkansas’ OC which is even more of a risk and it turned out pretty well for him.

I was driving when things turned around, so I know my takes turned to silence.

So what's the update on Brock?

Ironically, I thought he looked a lot stronger until he got hurt again.

Trieber had a backup jersey on
I watched them put it on him before the game. Right over top of his original uniform. Sides held together with velcro. I thought they were putting a breakaway uniform on him to help the refs identify holding.

Cold, wet tailgate, thank God we had a heater to keep the chill off, the wind was a pain in the butt.
Overall great to get a conference win, the defense brought their A game today, the offense effort was a B+ for this team, but for many teams a solid C.

We still have too many plays that gained less than a couple of yards when running the ball, 2 yard pass patterns, and again not enough of running Dekkers. 3rd and 8 we keep Dekker in the pocket and watch them blitz up the middle and they continue to bury us. Is it really that hard to roll Dekker to his left and give him some time, and maybe run if the pass is not there?

Glad to see somebody on staff is reading this board.

Absolutely. He's the head coach. I hope he does win all the games he coaches at ISU.

My biggest hope is that we see some new wrinkles, some no huddle, some up-tempo stuff. Some rollouts with multiple deep routes. Misdirection. Trap plays.
Some new sets, including 2 TEs and a FB. Pass out of that formation.

Anything to spark the offense and get some positive momentum. ISU should score 40 on West Virginia with our talent.

It looked like, once again, every time we had a play of over 20 yards we followed it up with a run.

He went to Arkansas as an aid to recruiting his top rated QB who never did anything. Got head coach fired.
