Seems evident from game and post game posts that most use alcohol. I'm well into my stock-up from the annual HyVee liquor sale

Just don’t watch. This team and coaching staff have wasted my Saturdays and torn my heart out all year. Today, I said eff it and didn’t watch a snap. Probably the most enjoyable Saturday for months.
Yep. New hobbies are life changing.

I came to the realization that I can’t let how 18-22 year old dudes play football affect my day. I used to get upset when the Cubs lost but now that they are on Marquee Network and I refuse to pay for it, my blood pressure has thanked me.

I tried not watching a few times and always come back. I hear ya. Being busy with projects or just getting out of town for half the day is easiest... but still.
I used to think it was the kids too. Problem is all the other teams have 18-22 year Olds too with nice facilities... yet, they find a way to win. So must be the coaching. So I'll have to say a bunch of well paid 40 plus year old men affect my day.

Yeah, as I get older I still cheer like crazy for my Cyclones, but I also remind myself that this is just a form of entertainment and nothing more. I save my sadness and depression for real hardships that impact myself and my loved ones.

I also record all the games and sometimes I only watch them after we win, especially basketball. I've become a much calmer person over the long winter.

Kind of goes against the spirit of this website. I say good riddance if you don't want to watch.
He gave a solution and it’s really not a bad one. Do something else and don’t let it affect you. Not a bad idea when a season is not only in the toilet but we have lost every single game by multiple self indicted wounds. Like junior varsity like mistakes.

There were 3 consecutive weeks I couldn't watch this year (all losses) due to other events, but I honestly wasn't bothered that I couldn't watch. Campbell had his one shining moment here and then it's been downhill and getting worse. I will give TJ my undivided attention as often as possible though.

You can watch and still not get too emotionally invested.

I suppose it would be different if they were good but I didn't feel a thing yesterday on that last drive. That was as 'rinse and repeat' as you could get.

I checked out after the KU game. I have watched but I will be working on something while watching, or playing a game while its on in the background. I have precious little free time, and Elden Ring is so good.

I actually turned the game on on the last drive. I didn’t yell at the tv or anything. I did question “why?” When we snapped the ball on 1st down. That was it. I did it while eating tacos knowing we were going to lose anyways. Wasn’t even mad. It is what it is.

I watched a basketball game and then watched football for a bit. Got frustrated and went and got my workout in until the 4th quarter

My emotional investment has decreased substantially over the last 20 years even though we’re much better than when I started following the Clones in the 80s and 90s. It’s so much healthier to maintain perspective, unfortunately it took about 25 years for me to figure that out.

There’s also a numbing effect when your last 10 losses are all one score games and we’ve only won 1 such game in that span. If we had a year and a half stretch of 1-10 in one score games when I was in my 20s or 30s I may have died of a heart attack. Now it rolls off my back.

My son's a big Wake Forest fan so we watched that after the game. It was a great game! Wake lost but it was really fun to watch...so that was nice...
