True. It's why I said what you posted is more realistic. In any case, it's likely going to come down to goal differential between us and Wales, and Wales has the advantage in they play England last - and all because we went passive in the second half. Can only hope England wants to put Wales in their place even with the group wrapped up.

That’s going to be a good chance of a nil-nil if England has secured top spot by that point.

Can't beat a team that has a country population less than the State of Iowa.

Maybe. But Wales is still little brother to them. So I don't think you'll see them willing to take a draw. But I doubt you see them put up a 5 spot on them. So even if we lose to England, the goal spread is crucial. Cannot get blown out.

Don't think this sets up well.

Wales with 4 points after beating Iran, we lose to England, so at 1 point to Wales 4. England and Wales then make it with a tie regardless of the US Iran result.

Had over 8.5 corners. Finished at 8 and the idiot ref had a terrible call in the 56th minute. Easily went out the end and he said it was a corner throw in. Wales was pissed and now so am I

Could we just have the "soccer players fall down too much" group just set up a PM group to talk about it rather than in this thread?

There's always people that will join a soccer thread and bash the sport because they don't watch it and don't understand it.

I have a TON to learn still, but I love it.

I can't stand baseball.... so I don't watch it. But I don't go on message boards and trash it... I know people love it.

I think we’re drawing a lot of premature conclusions from that Eng-Iran match. Lots of things could happen. Iran could get a wake up call and get organized, Iran could start parking the bus so they don’t get embarrassed out of the tourney, Eng might have used up some goals they would have liked to have saved for later.

As bad as we played that second half, we honestly are lucky we got a result.

Maybe we can get a result with England....will be interesting to see how the boys respond.

Do we know the status of their goalie?

I don't muck up the NASCAR thread to tell them it's stupid because it's just a bunch of rednecks turning left for 3 hours.

Pretty much this. I think England is going to go for the win, as they want to win the group for the favorable opening round draw, and going for the 0-0 tie is just asking for Wales to steal the game and the group with a 1-0 win. But I think England gets up a goal or two early and locks the game down. And if that's the case, we'd better make sure England doesn't pour a can of whoop-ass on us when we play them.

We went from a 50% chance of getting through to 34% per 538. Good news is iran has something to play for against wales now.
