I don't know why people get so mad at you, @surly.

Yeah, you're K-State homer, but I've never seen you be anything but friendly and polite. When you get into disagreements with people, you're civil and generally factual with your arguments.

Some people just need something to hate when their football team isn't doing well. K-State is having the exact sort of season we were hoping to have with efficiency metrics that aren't much better than Iowa State outside of turnovers, special teams, and red zone offense (which are obviously very high-leverage factors, duh) so maybe that just makes you a convenient target out of some sort of envy.
I enjoy it here because I grew up in Sioux City, attended Bishop Heelan, almost went to ISU myself, and then there's the rivalry thing between what is little more than brothers by a different mother, sans a girl or two sprinkle in here and there.

As for football, we had the preseason debate about how good/bad K-State would be, and I haven't had the courage to drop the "I told you so" card on da boys: @NorthCyd, @TheJackWePack5, @BillBrasky4Cy, and many other - but I just did. So there's that as well. I didn't forget that blistering, boys. And I know you're reading this. Ha.

Anyway, thanks for the kind remarks.

Congrats on being right for once, surly.

We’ll see where K-State ends up. They have the worst roster in the conference, but maybe Tang is that good.

TJ did it.

I can't talk football here for risk of being banned, so just to get some league chatter started and without a lot of data, here's a shot a ranking the conference today.

1. Texas - what they did to the Zags was scary
2. Baylor - I know, but one loss doesn't matter this early/just beat UK
3. Ku - smallish for Self

4. TxT - based only on history
5. ISU - good start
6. TCU - early injuries
7. WVU - new pieces, old story

8. K-State - better than last
9. oSu - all show, no blow
10. OU - never understood the hire
Early yet, but I like your groupings, though I'd probably put TxT/TCU in a second grouping, and ISU/WVU in a third. I'm guessing we're the 6th, maybe 7th best team if we can find a way to click on offense.

I think it's good based on current knowledge.

My guess is Iowa State will settle in at the 7 or 8 spot. There's no bigger TJ fan in the world but I think we're going to have the same offensive struggles as last year and we likely don't get as many breaks this year.

We'll have similar scoring droughts and there may be times where we can't be quite as effective on D as last year. Milwaukee exploited that a bit late in the game Sunday. This may be closer to the final outcome of a rebuilding year than last was ,but the future is gold.

Tech may surprise some people - they have some length and have a few that can get hot from 3. They could be borderline Top 25 all year.

I do think the league as a whole is a bit weaker this year so that may offset some of our own challenges.

TxT lost to Creighton by 11. Can someone explain why McDermott failed at Ames? He's seemingly done a splendid job in Omaha.

1. The offense he's running at Creighton is much more up-tempo than in Ames. It was brutal high arc weaves left and right.
2. He recruited too many MVC caliber players to Ames.
3. He was left with a good roster when he started at Creighton and Doug was a generational player that really helped them transition for MVC to BE and get eyeballs on them. He's recruited well since then and also coached well. Creighton has a really good NIL program now.

He's like Prohm IMO, the job was just a little much for them both, but they represented ISU well, and I'm wishing them both well at their schools.
I said at the end of last season/beginning of this one I think they are a Final Four caliber team.

I'd take fifth at the end of the year for sure, I just think TCU will get better and WV is usually tough.

I think when TJ has had 3-4 seasons to get his feet situated, then you will probably see that. BB is scheduled out a year or two, unlike football, and I think they didn't want to bury Tj and give him time to build confidence.
Exactly the amount of time for our next Maui trip.

Last night's UT game, they were discussing who has the best two guards in the Country and discussed Baylor, UT, and Houston, and how all 3 schools could make a claim.

I think it’s between Houston and Baylor. Texas isn’t in the convo to me.

Visit some other fan sites and see what he/she has to say. Yeah, polite to your face.

In their 94 years prior to McD, they were ranked in the Top 10 for 1 week. Since he took over, they've been in the Top 10 for 20 weeks.
