Baylor, KU, Okie State, and Oklahoma are all currently sold out. Good news for the team, the AD, and should make for good atmosphere for those games. So I think TJ is ahead on sell out compared to last yr. (too lazy to go look though.) Hopefully we can get some week nite sell outs also. Nice to see people backing the good work TJ is doing. Saturdays so hopefully the students will fill up their section of the balcony.

Students are on break for all but the OSU game, so don't count on raucous Hilton crowds for the other 3 games you listed. (Actually, that's part of the reason those are sold out - student section tickets made available for cheap to the general public...)
That would actually decrease the likelihood of a sellout. Throwing 3000 additional cheap tickets makes the remaining 500 regular priced, top row balcony seats even less appealing.
In reality, only one of the four is a break game. Students are back for the other three.

New years eve game and the two Saturdays surrounding around valentine's day helped immensely.
Huh? The only game the students are on break for is the Baylor game. The other three are in February.
Too bad there weren’t more break games sold out as the seats will actually get used.
If the students don’t start showing up the AD should look at other options.
Why would that have anything to do with a sellout? If the students are in town those are sold tickets.
A ton of the other seats are unused as well they just aren't concentrated since students push to the front

I agree that there are issues that need to be looked at but do you you really think that’s why 30% of the student seats are empty for most games?
I wish they'd still allow students to attend during break. There has to be enough students in the Ames/DSM area who would go to these games.
I say leave the student section open during breaks, but only the lower bowl, and then sell the upper deck side of the student section as GA tickets

I say do this for every game.
Have the students claim their ticket online 24 hours before the game if they want to attend. Sell the remaining upper level seats at a discounted rate(like they do for break games) to give some fans who aren’t able to regularly attend.
Students have an opportunity to buy those tickets for cheap too. I think the ticket office usually tries to place students near one another. It’s just not going to be the same atmosphere.
Students behind the baskets is 100% better environment than when it was donors. And, really, it’s the worst possible viewing angle, so this is a pretty good solution.
When they can see it better from a 75" screen........yeah.
My daughter is a junior with season tickets. Her roommate has them as well, and after sitting with us a few games, behind the basket just flat blows they say. And they live on Beach.
Now I will give them the B of D on December games against Western Blind Squirrel University. Even section 132 is half full for those games.
But the bigger games............?
Having been there for both......................Hilton was consistently a more hostile environment when they weren't.
Donors cough up the cash.........but they don't make the noise, AAAAAAAAAAAND........are the ones who are standing on the concourse with 5 minutes left waiting for the 4 minute television TO so they can run an Olympic 100 meter dash to the parking lot leaving the 100 sections half empty anyway.
Like I said to a previous poster........my daughter is a junior and has student season's for both football and basketball, and said that what they did to the student seating in the Jack blows as well.
Is what it is.......but with it becoming more about money and less about students/atmosphere........it's going to get worse.
I wonder if it isn't going to bite the A.D. in a few yrs if students watch at home and don't develop the want of attending games, who is going to be buying the tickets in 20-30 yrs? I've never qualified as a big donor but my attendance ranks right up there in the better than most category. My love of attending was started during my college yrs, out of probably 10 friends that went consistently in college I'm the only one who attends regularly most of them haven't been on campus for probably 30 plus yrs.
I agree 1,000% that moving the FB section for the students was a terrible decision, truly hindered the atmosphere at Jack Trice.
Having also been around for both. I respectfully disagree. My recollection is a lot of old folks sitting, except for a select few moments. Either one of us can pick and choose games, and it depends on team quality, but I recall empty seats and general boredom even during Tinsley’s senior season.
If student attendance is poor the rest of the year (upper deck less than 50% full), it’s time to give the entire upper deck to non-students.
