Still even more impressed this start is without Jaz. Definitely wasn't expecting this start without him playing.

They are ever so slightly a different team with Tre instead of Jaz. Bit more physical, bit less finesse. Being able to go back and forth with that a bit once Jaz is back will be interesting. Gives TJ another lever to pull on lineups and style night to night.

My thoughts as if anyone cares…
- Gabe was best all around player on floor for either team before he even hit that winner.
- foul calls for first 30 minutes were atrocious and impossible to ge that wrong just accidentally, TCU plays physical too
- we got lucky they went 5-13 ft during the first half when we went 0-0 in true WWE scripted fashion, incredible to have a half time lead
- the one was a bad call but we have to figure out how to foul 3 point shooters less often, fouling 3 point shots kept them in the game
-Watson gave us tons of energy
-other teams may learn to foul Jones late, it’s just a smart play
-Good up and down game for Tamin to learn on the road
-Tamin and Holmes can create in the paint better than anybody we had last year and it raises floor of the offense drastically
I’m not saying Bob Jones is bad at shooting free throws…but he makes Shaq look like Rick Barry from the line

Bob Jones was great today, but can the coaches just start getting him to shoot granny style from the free throw line? I don't understand why bad free throw shooters dont do this.

He was getting lucky early in year rattling some in.

Grill and Gabe were a combined 2 for 11 from 3 and the team was 3 for 9 from the FT line. How exactly did ISU win this game? TCU was 46.5% from 3 coming into the game at 28%. Guess they just fought their way to this win.

Kenpom has us up to #28 now, projected 10-8 in conference. Which would be 3rd. Still crazy how the worst team is expected 7-11. Just such even conference all around.

I wonder what we’d be in Kenpom 12 or so years ago. Thinking of back when some average 12 loss Wisconsin team would be ranked #3 because it loved their defense. Seems like it doesn’t favor D efficiency as much as it used to, probably better for it.

Maybe work on banking them in. He’s made a couple of those.

Someone earlier had mentioned this, but watching again on the play before Gabe's shot.........

#12 for TCU was standing out of bounds when he jumped up and caught the ball, in which he threw it back into play where head band guy for TCU all but decapitated Lipsey.

And this was all done right in front of the officials. Un.......believable! Keep calling them out Fran. Hopefully because ISU has a winning record we can get some calls like that at the end of the game.

I know this is game day thread, but noticed Ward didn't even get out of his warm ups. Injury?

Because with the foul problems down low, another body even if spot duty might have helped.

And until Bob improves his FT shooting he may not need to be on the floor during crunch time.
Im pretty sure with 1 year's training I could shoot better with my off hand than Bob on his FT. WTF? 39% has to be last in the country right? Beyond that, I am happy with Bob on the floor.

Which I just found out is on ESPN+ which is total bull ****.

With the possible exception of coming off our 2-20 year how is ISU KU ever missing national audience? They love KU and our decent teams give them fits while rest of league likes to roll over.
