Host of “The Gym” on KGYM 1600 in CR from 3 to 4 today said Purdy won’t win NFC ROTY…. and that he basically is just benefiting from having Kittle, McCaffrey, Samuel, Ayuik, etc.

Pretty much didn’t give Purdy any credit at all. This is exactly what ISU fans despise about all these radio shows…. so slanted towards Iowa no matter what, and always slighting anything ISU. It’s BS.

Every great NFL QB has had studs to throw to and RBs to carry the ball.

Can you imagine how much they would be creaming themselves with ROTY is in the bag if Purdy was a Howk.

Kittle is just benefiting from Purdy. But this is exactly why I wish he would stop targeting him so much.

I have been a Vikings fan since I was about 5 years old and that will never change. If the Vikes face San Fran in the playoffs, I am rooting Vikings all the way, even if I don't believe they are good enough to win a Super Bowl this year. Obviously I would love to see Purdy play well, and will root for the 49ers in every game other than if they play Minnesota.

I'm a Cowboys fan. If we get the 9ers I'll be hoping for Parsons to sack him all night. But who are we kidding? The Cowboys probably won't make it past the second round.

If the Vikings somehow went to San Fran and beat them I think the universe might actually explode.

They probably won't make it past the first. Then the Cowboys get Sean Payton as a consolation prize

I love all these people minimizing Purdy because SF is a really good team around him. That is all true, but every one of the rosters Montana, Young and Aikman won SBs with were so much more loaded relative to the league average. Pre salary cap the NFL was a different animal.
I don’t know that anyone is trying to undermine his success as much as they’re trying to pump the brakes on the Purdy is the best quarterback in the history of football talk.

Everyone I’ve seen on here is simply acknowledging that Brock found himself in an advantageous situation and that he’s taking full advantage of it.

It’s not a one or the other conversation. It’s both true that SF is immensely talented and that Brock is playing at a very high level. Not everything is mutually exclusive.

As a Vikings fan, if I was a niners fan (and am this postseason) I would be more concerned with Seattle than I would with the Vikings.

49ers defense has gotten leaky and that may hold them back.

Brock has been a perfect fit for the 49ers. I have really enjoyed watching the 49ers play the last 6 games. They are loaded with talented skill players. I'm hoping he continues to play well and we are all watching him play in the SB in Feb.

I mean more nationally. They are completely correct that SF has a really good roster around Purdy. But most of time he’s been playing they’ve been without Deebo.

My point is that through the pre- and early salary cap days there was no parity, and the gap between the rosters around those QBs and the league average absolutely dwarfs what SF has now. The rosters around Montana, Young, and Aikman for example were WAY better than everybody else except each other. Those teams drafted well, but it’s not like there were hard cap decisions.

I don’t get this, as if Purdy is supposed to what…not throw the ball to his guys? Run for 2 TDs a game?

Cousins has studs around him, Brady has studs around him, Dak has studs around him, Geno Smith has studs around him, Justin Herbert…the list goes on. They’re professional footballers, they’re all studs to a certain degree, but these mouth breathers from CR think Purdy should be out of contention because he’s properly distributing the ball like a QB should?

The whole "he's just a system quarterback" is a joke. How is Purdy's situation any different from Joe Montana?

Montana got to the Hall of Fame by distributing the ball to other Hall of Famers like Roger Craig and Jerry Rice, but nobody ever downplayed Joe's ability because of the 49ers talented roster.

Peter Schrager calls BP offensive rookie of the year on Good Morning Football.

I think that one of Brock's main accomplishments was making the team and moving into the second string position when Lance went down considering that the Niner's passed up better known options that were available to them. None of the coaches nor the players, on both sides of the ball, panicked or even got concerned when Brock stepped into each new role. Brock built their confidence while practicing as the scout quarterback and they all knew he could do it. This is another example of the "it" factor that is not measured in any one statistic but shows up in the conglomerate stats.

It took Montana 11 years before having a season average passer rating higher than Brock is averaging this year. And he only did it twice in his career and one of those seasons he played 1 game and threw 126 yards. Brock had the highest passer rating in the NFL right now.
