ISU's defense gave up 61 points today to a home team...that's fine for a conference game and should result in a win. The offense has too many stagnant stretches...the coaches need to figure out how to mitigate those. As pointed out above, the same thing happened at OU and nearly cost ISU a victory.

Also, FT shooting needs to get better quickly...ISU is towards the bottom of the league, and the teams that ISU is with are likely going to finish towards the bottom of the conference. The is a big gap between #6 and #7. Maybe the bad FT shooters need to come out towards the end of close games.

I see W Virginia has made as many as we have attempted so they get fouled a lot...as does K-state. ISU likes to foul apparently

People really need to settle down. This is why after every big win or big loss I say it’s always somewhere in the middle.

Look, we have mostly mediocre talent that the staff has gotten every ounce out of for 18 months. We will win and lose more games. That’s why the games are played. No other staff would have gotten to the S16 last year with that roster or be where we are this year.

The future is increasingly and blindingly bright even if we’re still in the rebuild phase.

I think they drop two at home.
And we absolutely could. As of now we haven’t so make it the goal to not do it. Winning Tuesday against K State and we are right back where we want to be. Until we lose a home game the conference title is still there to be had.

Your last point hits hard. This is year 2 after the worst seasons over 40 years' time.

I hope we sit Grill until his back heals. We’re gonna need him 100 percent when the big 12 tourney comes
Why the big 12 tourney? ISU is going to be an at large. The difference in getting beat first round and winning the BTT is 0-1 seeds. It is of very minor importance for a team like ISU this year.
We need Grill to play as soon as he can be productive.

This isn't true at all, those Hoiberg teams got 3 seeds because they won the BTT, not because they finished 11-7. Games like this could be the difference between playing in Des Moines and getting shipped our to Sacramento.

I think people just need to calm down and appreciate what we have here. This team is a great team and guys like Osun And Jaren will only be here for one year so we need to appreciate the talent we have right now and as fans just take things one game at a time

Yeah I am probably underestimating the movement. You could probably see up to a two seed movement.
But my point is that there is nothing magical about a BTT game vs a regular conference game.

We were still up double digits first half but when they banked in their SECOND three pointer you had to know it was headed for one of those games. Then in the second half they hit one prayer of a shot clock beating three and another off an oh so close steal by Holmes that left a player open in the corner. Those four plays were worth 12 points. Throw in us shooting 2-9 from three, missed free throws late, two basic layups by Jones...you get the picture. I said when we were up 16 it seemed like we actually should be up 30.

There are way more people in here saying "wow everyone needs to settle down, we aren't good or talented so expecting to win any B12 games, let alone ones on the road is silly" than people melting down. Not sure where the idea that there's a massive meltdown is coming from, except from people who want to be sure everyone knows that they expect nothing and are the most righteous and best among us.

Point blank, this team was tied for first in the B12 and lost a very winnable game today. There is still everything this team wants ahead of it, and unfortunately for some of you on here, I'm sure they want to compete for a B12 title.

A whole lot of loser talk on here, just because you don't dare to dream of big things doesn't mean the team can't or won't push to achieve those big things. I'm excited to see what they can learn from this loss and how they respond next week.

Watching their coach Boynton climbing into the stands yelling and fist pumping to the (small) crowd of fans after being gifted by the referees.... made me realize that payback is coming hard

Except it's all still in front of us. Beat ksu and tied for first and controlling our own destiny.

Because it gives him time to work back into the Rortation before the big dance

That's what I said and am saying. A whole lot of people rushing out to say "ah well shucks we were never gonna REALLY compete and you're all stupid for thinking otherwise" when they're absolutely still in the thick of things.

I just don't understand why some of the people on here watch when apparently all they hope for is a solid effort. This squad of players, as high or low of expectations you (not you specifically, but every ISU fan) had coming into the year, has shown they can play at a very high level. Bottoming out and finishing around or below .500 in conference given how they started and what they've shown they can play like, should be a disappointment to fans and absolutely would be to the team.

Could it happen? Sure. Would there still be a bright future? Absolutely. But my goodness some of y'all need to dare to dream a little bit. ISU doesn't have to be a loveable loser forever, even though that's where some fans seem to be most comfortable. Expectations are good.

Something that was problematic in the second half was our ball movement. OSU (to their credit) did a tremendous job of pressuring the perimeter and immediately flashing out on our ball handlers. We had a hard time beating them off the dribble, so we really needed to focus on quicker ball movement, finding open cutters, and focus on getting it to Osun and Tre. Instead we were stagnant and it lead to a lot of tough, contested shots.

Okay, I get that Otz likes to rotate Jones in but he is a terrible matchup against certain kinds of teams. Moreover Osun was wildly effective early, yet was prematurely taken out. He will never be able to play big minutes if we don't teach him how to play and manage those minutes. I thought this cost us today, possibly the victory.

It's not often I will single out officiating but it was objectively brutal today. The missed goaltend, several bogus blocking calls, and the shooting foul on Lipsey are just a few that come to mind. Downright embarrassing display today and it put us at a huge disadvantage.

In the end it was a combination of the above and some ridiculous shooting by OSU that cost us the game. The hardest part of the loss is it was a game we SHOULD have won, but didn't. In this league you have to win those games.
Should have won is too strong. It’s hard to lose any game, let alone a winnable one, but they were favored and have a stellar defense. We also could have very easily lost the TCU game. Having lost this one almost seems just considering…

Also, we will almost certainly lose more games. It’s possible to hope to win, be disappointed when you don’t, and still accept losses. (Not saying you aren’t…but others obviously can’t.)
