Was at the game, holy hell that was bad.

They look worn out and not skilled enough to make any adjustments. There are sone lineups that TJ is putting out there that just have no chance right now. I get what he's doing but there are certain lineups we are playing that just aren't competitive.

Need Lipsey to mature fast, pound the ball into king and osun more, get grill healthy, figure out a way to get king out of foul trouble, and Holmes has to get back to playing well again, Holmes looks gassed to me.

Defensively we were awful again, Texas is a tough matchup but we just were not competitive defensively for most of the first half.

LOFL. Texas was beating anyone in the nation tonight?? Based on what? They shot reasonably well but I think played a very mediocre game.
Correct, with that crowd and the way Texas shot the ball/defended - Texas was beating anyone.

Torvik gave Texas a 99.0/100.0 game score rating. Like I said, they would’ve beaten anyone.

Well u have to start by having one legendary player this millennium and then never shut the f*** up about how great you are even tho you are objectively NOT great at any point other than that one year. Then you get a bunch of idiots to believe you. Then you hold a bunch of better programs hostage while you lose to them. Bonus points if you do this in the state of texas.

Then you call ESPN. Then, you profit. Then you back ur way into the SEC. Then you profit even more.
I think I can handle that. Thanks for the instructions.

Not that it bears repeating but...

We must have Holmes and Gabe and Grill hitting shots or we're toast...it's really that simple. If those three score 40+ cumulatively it's very very likely a W.

Grill was out tonight, but Kunc, Holmes, and Gabe were a combined 6-27 from the field, 3-17 from three, and a total of 21 points. That = a loss almost every night against anyone with a pulse.

In our last four losses, the shooting is staggeringly bad:

Gabe:
@ Texas = 3-14 and 3-11 (from three) for 10
@ KSU = 4-14 and 3-12 for 11
OSU = 2-12 and 2-6 for 6
@ WVU = 1-6 and 0-3 for 8

Holmes:
@ Texas = 2-8 and 0-2 for 9
@ KSU = 2-16 and 0-4 for 5
OSU = 2-8 and 1-6 for 8
@ WVU = 6-14 and 2-5 for 18

Grill:
OSU = 1-5 and 1-5 for 4
@WVU = 4-10 and 3-7 for 13

Gabe is in a true funk. He's hitting 21% overall from the field in our last four losses (10 for 46) and 25% from three (8 for 32).

Holmes had a decent game WVU but against KSU, Texas, and OSU he's actually worse than Gabe, shooting 20% from the field (6 for 32).

Until our guards start hitting and get out of this funk, we will have trouble beating anyone home or away.

What's up with Tre King? Still gaining his sea legs or is this just who he is at this level?
I think Tre has been pretty solid this year. If he’s not in foul trouble, he needs more minutes and more touches because he has the potential to be one of our better scorers. Is that a compliment about his game or diss at the teams overall talent offensively? Probably both to be honest.

I'm sure others have noticed, but ISU has a depth issue. The starters play the vast majority of most games, along with 3 reserves (2 non-starters now that Grill is out). And when those 7 or 8 players are not shooting well, there are no other options. Couple the increased minutes the 5 starters play, plus the 2-3 reserves, and the though defense and practices TJ asks of them, they often times play and look tired, a step slow. The long B12 season can take a toll.

Hopefully, the next 2-4 years will show an increased talent level, not only with the starters but with the bench. It would be nice to have 9-10 players routinely contributing game minutes, even just 2-5', in years to come. Or, more than likely, with TJ and our level of recruiting/NIL, will we continue to mostly only play 7-8 players? Does that seem to be the history for ISU also?

Contrast some of the teams in the SEC. Many of those teams seem to play 9-10 players, significant minutes. Case in point, Alabama (top 3 team of late), 3 recent games:

Season is long. Guys are tired. No Grill, and Gabe in a funk. Just seems like one of those games the team knew they weren't going to win, so they mailed it in. I really anticipate a renewed sense of urgency starting Saturday and the rest of the way now. Wouldn't be the worst thing for us to get bounced early in Big 12 tournament. This team is a lot like last year's.

Bama plays a lot of guys because they play a really fast paced and they have blown some teams out which allows their bench to play more.

I just think teams play ISU better the second time around and the offense sucks because there are no great shooters and no one can take their man off the dribble and get their own shot.
