I think the fact all seven of those guys would be starters on this year's squad (except maybe the two centers, but Osunniyi is far from night-and-day better than either of them) goes to show the limited talent pool the current team has. None of the upperclassmen are going to sniff the NBA or even the D-League compared to that team having four future NBA guys (TH, THT, Wigginton, and Shayok briefly). Having Wigginton or Shayok as the "bucket getter" on this squad after Green bailed would give you something special.
The fact they've gotten as far as they have should be applaud, even if it is ending with a whimper.
I don't think I've seen more basketball talent wasted by an individual at ISU than Lard. He was putting up 20 and 10 against ranked teams in Hilton in 25 minutes as a freshman in the Big 12.
There have been guys who were more talented who turned into busts (e.g., Royce White) but at least they had a taste of the NBA and often had successful overseas careers. Lard has just vaporized.
