There's only two reasons I can think of for why this would be done now versus the far easier route of him not playing and leaving after the season.

1. He did something that they are getting out in front of (this seems unlikely to me, but always a possibility in situations like this).
2. It is locker room/relationships/attitude related and it was done now to try and salvage the rest of the season. We have all seen that something has felt off about the team for the better part of a month, I don't tend to think the blame could ever be put on one individual, but this could be an action to try and remove some of the issue and reset the remaining group.

Even if he can play another year, I don’t think the rest of the conference will want him. Mad Fran might though.

He’s a senior who’s transferred twice already. Is he even going to want to play after sitting out next year to transfer somewhere else? I’d be shocked if he got a third waiver.
Maybe he doesn't even want to continue his basketball career at this point.

He’s a good shooter, good bball IQ, and good on D. He won’t have trouble finding a spot somewhere as long as his injury isn’t a long term issue.

I wonder if Wichita State is his landing spot if he wants to play another year. It might be good for him to play back home.

well ****. assuming he was gonna return next year as well, this huge for next year as well. He likely would have led the team in minutes, perimeter defense, and 3 point shooting.

I agree. Since he's transferred twice already, would he be able to transfer again and play right away?

Maybe he was already on his 2nd chance. Who knows?
Well that could be for sure but often times it's out there front and center with TJ maybe announcing that he is suspended for a game or two due to breaking team rules etc. I hate this. He followed TJ everywhere.

I am surprised they are removing him from the team. The guy has a back injury and I wouldn't be surprised to find out he needs some sort of fusion done. Anyone with chronic back pain would tell you how bothersome it is to your life.

Anyone think the pain meds (opioids?) he might be taking could be causing the erratic behavior he has shown? For all the love the MSM gave that team out east for having Patrick sit out for mental health, I would think Iowa State would be more understanding, if it is related.

Ultimately, I don't like this. He is a TJ loyalist and followed him everywhere; can't imagine this was an easy decision. He must have made a very poor decision, must have been worse than bringing a loaded gun to a former teammate who killed someone with it.
JFC...you got him pegged as an opiod-hooked maniac with a gun???Surprised you didn't have him beating defenseless animals.
