It’ll be extremely interesting to see what transfers we get (early connected info indicates TJ has one or two REAL NICE HANDLERS) and what kind of impact a couple freshmen can have on this offense.

Consistent offense has been a problem this year. The defense will continue; the offense needs to be top 25 for this program to take another step.

Top 40 would do wonders. Still we are a heck of a long ways away from the dark closing yrs of Prohm.

Yeah that's it. JFC.

I believe ISU can beat KU if Wilson's not having a lottery pick kind of night and Grady misses a bunch and ISU can get some space on offense.

That didn't happen tonight...so...
And we did beat them this year. They got us back for that one in Ames. The one at the Fog was a close loss. Yeah, we just needed atleast one more shooter tonight.

KU just had the shooters tonight. Wilson and Grady D are NBA players.

Not our crispest game but we played hard. I thought KU played great defense and played well overall. That's tough for us when they play that well. Rest up and get ready for the NCAAs
They took Gabe out of the second half with really good defense and we lack that guy like Wilson who can go get buckets. **** really stepped up with some really tough shots.

They out-willed us & were definitely the better team tonight. Tip the cap & move on.
Have our guys work shooting the ball off the white square of the board when inside instead of throwing the ball up there wishing for a foul & for it to go in.

Not sure about the out-willed part, but they certainly deserved the win. Their defensive extension in the 2nd half was excellent and it caused us a lot of issues. Their superior athleticism with guys like Wilson, ****, Adams, and Harris caused problems. Early it was Wilson but Gradey hurt us when cutting or slashing to the basket. He had a great second half.

We did some frustrating things like blowing layups and committed TOs but KU was just better. Something we need to do that I think we can executive is moving the ball a lot quicker on the offensive end. Get the ball inside and if nothing is there kick it out, drive the lane and kick out and move it around when the lane is clogged. Too often we forced drives that weren't there and when we did kick it out we were often slow with the next move. We don't have the athleticism or handlers to consistent create off the dribble so we have to do it with ball movement.

Other than being a bit sloppy themselves, KU played well and brought great intensity. The ability for Wilson and Gradey to shoot over defenders, even those defending well, will be problematic for most teams at the tourney. Few have the combination of length and defense to match that. We sure didn't tonight.

You are aware that there is more to a game than turnovers? Yes, that was the key stat, but if we could have hit some shots, we were right in it anyway. Forced 16 on KU ourselves.
Ugh, I guess I need to give you more information even though we all watched the game. Outscored from the foul line by 10, missed a ton of layups, gave up a ton of 2nd half offensive rebounds. But go ahead and stick to your B grade. You shouldn't grade on a curve because it was Kansas. I'm not down on the team right now, just saying we didn't play very well. It's OK. Not the end of the world

Grady had like a sliver of space on a couple of shots and it didn't even phase his timing.

We played just well enough in this tournament to end up playing Oral Roberts, Charleston or Drake as opposed to Rutgers or another 6 or 7th place power conference team...not sure we did ourselves any favors.

I really don't think anyone in the Country beats KU tonight. They played as well as I've seen them for a long time. They wanted it.
I only disagreed because I think I've seen them play better. Cyclone defense caused them problems. I think Wilson is national POY (not Edey), **** is really good, and Harris is a older, more experienced Lipsey. Turnovers killed us (by everybody), many unforced, but just not hitting makeable shots was the difference.

I'm not sure I would want a Rutgers either.

KU’s pace started out fast making a ton of shots. Opened up a hole and then dug back into it. Unfortunately their drive and dish was solid. They made shots, forced sloppy play and their bigs were strong. Gabe was shut down. Holmes tried to carry too much but forced too much. Osun struggled. BRE had a good game. Lipsey just frantically and lazily turned it over too much. Our guys got out hustled and KU just was on top of their game. Our guys hung for awhile and I’m not even mad. Rest up and get ready for the next matchup. Our bigs need to work on their hands and guys need to take care of the ball. Just uncharacteristic TOs and KU just moved the ball around really well. Nothing to be too angry about. Now I just hope we get the right matchups in the tourney and the b12 does well overall.

Oh, and we missed some bunnies that just didn’t fall. Never extended the lead and didn’t take advantage when KU actually did get sloppy.

Grady had like a sliver of space on a couple of shots and it didn't even phase his timing.

His got a nice pop in his jump and that combination of athleticism, height/length, and shot allows him to simply shoot over most defenders. What impressed me, especially in the 2nd half, was his ability and willingness to pump fake and take guys off the dribble. If he does that on the tournament KU can be lethal. You have to respect his shot and that ability to drive on the close out will bury most defenders. When he did that we simply didn't have an answer for it.

In addition to it's superb extension, KU really controlled the paint for most of the night. In the previous two games, even the loss in Lawrence, we got a lot of easy buckets. Tonight there weren't many easy buckets and when they came they were infrequent. We were fortunate the game was as close as it was.

It was refreshing to have a loss where we didn't screw up a 2nd half or blow it in some way. KU was simply better. Despite that we put up a good fight. Just wasnt our.

I mean I know enough to not call an ISU player a piece of **** like you did last season.

Do you understand the difference?

Which is a more reasonable take?

'ISU can't get shots to fall tonight and KU is playing really well'.

'That ISU player is a POS'.
Don't let Malone bother you. Not worth it.

In other words, we played our B game

We got some confidence and mojo back and got 2 more games worth of experience with the rotation and playing without Caleb. IMO this weekend was an overall win.

We'll end up playing who we play. Out of our control, and I have faith in our coaching staff to put together a good game plan against whoever we end up facing.
