BRW, Tamin hit a 3 in the first half after a foul call. Nothing but net! Thought that might encourage him to take one later.
My assumption was his feet were too wide, he had to major stretch to get to his left and it looked awkward, probably made it easy to notice.

It was the fouls that hurt us 19 to our 9 free throws. Kansas was more efficient with field goals and made one more three. They also had a good game plan to basically triple team under the basket. All of our turnovers didn't help either.

Sorry, I was there. Even when we tied it up, KU just stretched it back out easily. We looked lost on defense most of the game.

No worries, it was against maybe the overall #1 seed. But it was a beat down. 20+ turnovers, lol.
It was one of those games where the final score really did tell the story. I did have a brief moment of hope when we took the lead and McCullar went out, but that only seemed to propel and motivate them more. They outscored us 33-19 the rest of the way. That is a beat down no matter what way you slice it

Bummed because KU played somewhere between their floor and ceiling. They missed a lot of shots and we did turn them over at times. We needed less than an A game from KU to have a chance and got it. Unfortunately ISU also played somewhere between their floor and ceiling.

KU is really talented. There are 2 first round draft picks in that roster. They have a senior PG who is salty AF. Their bigs were better than average last night. And have the best coach in a league full of good coaches.

I felt like TJ reverted a bit after we got the lead. We saw the typical February rotations to close that one out. Would have really liked to see Watson and Tre more down the stretch. Their length was an issue for KU.

No shame in losing that game. It’s good to see that caliber of team this close to the tourney.

That goes even worse for you. There have only been 6 semifinal games from the power 6 conferences (extending it out to include the big east, otherwise it'd only be 4), because the ACC\SEC\B10 don't play their semis until tomorrow.

And in those 6 conference semifinals we have:

A 19 point loss by Oregon to UCLA
A 19 point loss by ASU to Arizona
A 22 point loss by Creighton to Xavier
Quarterfinals, Semifinals whatever. How about just games played yesterday after trimming the fat on Thursday and Wednesday?

Tre vanished from the game down the stretch. I thought that was a weird move based on how well he's been playing lately

KU was the better team tonight. They played really good D, made shots, forced us to make mistakes. We didn't play our best, but I got the feeling we were still in it at different points in the game. We never could get over the hump and get rolling, though.

Right up to about 5-6 minutes left in the game, we were still in it. There was a crucial call against Big Rob, and a made 3 by us was waved off. Was it a moving screen? They never showed it or talked about it.

Huge pivot point late, 3/4's thru the 2nd half. A no-call there would have put us down by only 7, or so, and given us momentum. Any body see that play?
Hey was that the one where Lipsey’s 3 was waived off? I was bummed that he had a nice shot and they took it away.

Where are all the great KU fans to buy up all these Championship tickets? Upper decks tickets are going to have to sell for below face value unless there is a late surge.

Yeah a bit of a head scratcher like the use, or lack of.......Watson and Ward in February.
Yeah that was a turning point once Kunc came back, they stopped playing. I think we really benefit from the length and athleticism those 3 bring, even if they aren't the most gifted shot makers

Did we play with Wilson balls? Heard they can be an issue for one team and not the other.
All kidding aside, they do look like they are kind of slick. Both teams last night lost their handle in odd ways.

I think the contract with Wilson is over after this year and there could be a different ball next year. I don’t hate the Wilson ball. It seems to play fine with our style and they have proven to be able to win with it.

KU's a different deal than BU. He was a bit frantic with the ball and ISU needed quick buckets late.

ISU generally goes as the guards go and KU knew it and did their job to limit Gabe, Jaren and Tamin.

Yeah, I did not like that moving screen on Rob. I thought he was solid. Refs the last several years have been overzealous with that call. Taking away Gabe’s 3 really hurt at that moment.

Can someone who knows/watches basketball more intently than I tell me if we every run double screens to free up a shooter like Gabe?

I thought that call on RJ was rather lame. We're there any other off-ball foul calls the whole night?

Just too many TOs and missed layups last night to beat KU. Maybe some freshman nerves for TL. ISU got some nice inside looks but just couldn't finish. KU finished most of theirs.

yes, huge play. They could have called the exact same thing on KU several times. Moving screens are a funny one, they happen on the floor all the time, it's just weird when the officials decide to actually call it.

50/50 balls and calls went KU's way and we weren't crisp enough to win. Nothing to hang our heads on, gives some more rest before the big show.

As much as I hate KU, hope they destroy those losers in Austin that tried to destroy the Big12.

Most of that differential came from intentional fouls at the end. Given our lack of shotmakers we could not afford 22 turnovers, many of which were just bad decisions. That was the difference. Cut that that number to 12-13 then we have a chance to win.

With the way they were guarding Gabe we needed Jaz to step up. He only played 15 minutes due to foul trouble and did not take a shot. 1 rebound was his only stat. Woof. But I expect him to come out in the tourney and be way more assertive.
