Dumb rule. common sense would give the ball to Iowa....The ref was standing out of bounds when the ball hit him.

Agree. It's like the ball touching another object out of bounds. Crappy break for either team, but it should be considered out of bounds off team who last touched it.

I'd have to watch the replay again but I think Iowa might have slapped an arm to cause the out of bounds anyway though.

So with Arizona loosing, I am a complete 2-15 loss family!

Of course we know about Hampton, but my wife went to Arizona.
Make sure she knows that this wouldn't have happened if they were in the Big 12, and she should start writing sternly worded letters post-haste!

(I trust this is the first time you've spoken of the Hampton game since 2001, so she has know way of knowing to call your bluff.)
