Not exactly sure.

I really want to roast this headline but I don’t pay for athletic and it wouldn’t be fair. I’ll do it here though.
Longevity made Iowa a winner? She made the post season 6 times before her first and only losing season.
Loyalty? She’s at Iowa. What other opportunities does she have that aren’t a lateral move? There is UCONN and maybe 1 or 2 that would be considered an upgrade.
Not denying she’s a great coach. Seems just like a bad thesis. I’d say it’s in state talent and the state of Iowa’s overall support for women’s athletics that make Iowa team’s successful.

Uuhhhhh….there are more than 1-2 that would be considered an upgrade.

Stanford, Baylor, Mich State, Indy, UConn, Texas just off the top of my head.

You would certainly know better than I. I’d be interested to learn if she’s turned down any of those jobs. I would certainly retract my statement.
I know that of the places I lived, Iowa is by far the most supportive of female athletics, both hs and college.

When she wins 20+ championships, then you can compare her to the Yankees, she is more like the Cubs.;) We will see what SC thinks of her being named Naismith award winner.
I wasn't making a comparison. Yankee baseball is what I'd rather think about.

I think what he means is that she didn't make it out of the second weekend until her 15th season at Iowa (and 25th as a D1 head coach). A lot of schools would probably lose patience with that eventually but Iowa didn't and she's rewarded them and made 3 sweet sixteens in the last 5 years and now the first final four in 30 years.

Fixed it for Scott. Gratis.
There's plenty to work with there too.

“When you don’t shoot free throws, it’s hard to win a game,” Bluder said after Wednesday’s 77-70 setback before a terrific crowd at Hilton Coliseum. “We only shoot six. They shoot 22. I felt like we should’ve been shooting a lot more.

“When you give up 16 (more) free throws to a really good basketball team, it’s hard to win.”

I find it hilarious that Iowa fans used to make fun of Iowa State fans for supporting Women's basketball really well and now all of a sudden they are acting like they've always been Women's basketball superfans.

BIL was at AAC during practice yesterday. He was commenting on how big South Carolina is. We'll have to see how she does against them.

All she needed was one of the greatest players in WBB history to fall right into her lap.

Depending on who you ask in here she doesn't have that now but she made her first two sweet 16s and first elite 8 before Clark was there (first sweet 16 was also before Gustafson). But yes obviously that helps a lot. She still had to recruit her to Iowa which wasn't always easy with top in state players

She was a UCONN lean before Paige Bueckers committed there first. Geno was taking whichever one committed to UCONN first.

My wife is not a huge sit down and watch sports type of gal. My wife hates college basketball with a fiery passion because the last 2 minutes can take 20 minutes. Last night my wife asked if we could watch the Iowa game tonight because she really wants to watch Caitlin Clark.

This is the impact she has. You can hate her or have your own feelings, but her impact is undeniable.

I saw a snippet of Iowa's last game but if Iowa is able to move the ball and shoot like they did that night they'll win. I don't know how good Louisville really was but obviously good enough to get the EE.

Same with my wife. It's ridiculous to expect ISU fans to cheer to Iowa in any capacity but the attention she has brought to women's basketball is an undeniable positive.

I would wager some will stick around and watch more women's hoops when she's gone. But I would bet the majority will likely go back to not caring.

That makes way more sense. Glad I didn’t comment on Twitter without knowing these facts.
Do athletic departments and fans really lose patience for women’s bball when they are consistently making the post season though? Fran hasn’t made a single sweet 16 and it seems the fanbase is pretty much 50/50 on keep or fire.
