I got lucky I guess on the northeast side of CR. Plenty of pea-size hail (although nothing like Ames on Friday) and I saw a couple of larger hailstones not quite this big in my yard.
Canned hams, for exampleAnd a reminder that “marble” is not an accepted hail size measurement. There are countless different sizes of marbles. Use common items with defined sizes like coins, golf ball, ping pong ball, baseball etc. or an actual measurement.
ArrrghNot these storms. Too isolated and plenty of daytime to recover. If anything, these could lay outflow boundaries for future storms to interact with.
I like track meets, but last night it was like 35 or so and a solid N to NE (it changed on us) wind was hitting us pretty hard. It was too stinking cold to be outside. Son showed some solid improvement which is what I tell him his goal should be so it was a good night but not weather wise.I enjoy track meets. I know…I’m nuts![]()
Is testicular sized hail acceptable? Now there are different sizes of softball so they should be out.And a reminder that “marble” is not an accepted hail size measurement. That pencil on the IA/MN border is almost exactly pointing at where I grew up.The 06z HRRR model run paints an ominous picture with multiple supercells throughout central and eastern Iowa.

No, Reed the meteorologist is much olderIs that the same Reed Timmer that played basketball at Drake?
I have a really bad, "sick to my stomach" feeling about this now. The current HRRR models look extremely concerning.
Everyone in the metro and east should be watching this very closely this afternoon.
