Any improvement we see from this team this year will depend entirely on the improvement of the OL.

If the OL doesn’t improve, the team won’t be improved.

I won’t be holding my breath…. we get told every year it will be better, and it never is.
Personally, I think QB position is more important. Our OL wasn't really that much different than years prior. We lacked consistency at both QB and RB last year. RB was largely because of injuries. We need Hunter to take a big step this year or someone else needs to beat him out.

I have watched Cyclone football for 50+ years, 90% of the time we were at a significant disadvantage in the Big 12 at the QB position. Purdy changed that. We can't go back to having substandard QB play.

I am drinking the Cool-aid. New Coach, new mindset, developing untapped potential- the o-line is going to kick-a$$. Let's go 8-4.

Sure you can be a Debbie-downer and say same-ole-same-ole BS and I hope we go 5-7, but what fun would that be for the next 4 months! Save the disappointment until it actually happens. As a wise person said- why borrow trouble.

I'm FAR more bullish on the offense with Tom Manning's 4 yard drag routes gone on 3rd and 8.. O-line is a prove it to me.. Play calling is a reason to be optimistic.

I've seen a lot mediocre quarterbacks successfully serve as game managers behind dominant offensive lines where all they're asked to do is distribute without turning the ball over.

A boy can dream...

For me it’s a “I’ll believe it when we see it” type of thing. I would love for our OL to be great and to get to the point where we’re putting OL in the league. But our Oline has been doo doo for a long long time
I like his approach to coaching the line but we'll see how the plans go when people start getting hit in the mouth.

The pieces all have to come together on play design and execution. I think we've failed on both the last couple of years. But I don't see any reason why we HAVE to fail.

Even if they aren't becoming 'Elite' players, it's more true for any position group on the field that technique goes a long long ways on the Offensive line. You can only get so big and so fast, eventually it's all about body mechanics. Clanton talks the talk. I think we will see improvement, if anything I think Clanton is teaching these guys how to fire off the ball and that should equate to better running lanes alone. There's also something to be said for perception. Even if it's only slight growth, the players see it as large gains. That breeds more intensity and commitment. Once you see positive gains, you crave more.

I do like when he talks about his players and calls them gigantic. When a huge dude says someone is gigantic, they're a force.
