Potentially, but wideouts of his caliber are available in free agency every single off-season. There's plenty of opportunity to rectify missing on a player like Lazard, if you want to. Not many organizations are still going to be holding a candle for a slightly above replacement level player, after passing on him, 5 years into his career.

Lazard's contract ranks #26 among NFL wide receivers for average annual value at $11M per year. Not sure how many guys are on rookie contracts that are clearly better than him (e.g. Justin Jefferson or Ja'Marr Chase), but even factoring them in, I gotta push back on slightly above replacement level. I think Lazard's market shows he is valued as a solid WR2 option. Those aren't players that you cry over missing on, but they also aren't growing on trees as replacement level.

Certainly didn’t have the stats or eye test of a Top 10 pick this year, but there are great traits present. He’s the definition of a guy that could go early first round or fall to fourth round.
Why does Kiper have him so high? Everyone else has him much lower.

There are a lot.

Justin Jefferson, Ja'marr Chase, Amon-ra St. Brown, Ceedee Lamb, Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Jayden Waddle, Chris Olave, Devonta Smith, Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, to name a few and maybe you even consider guys like Christian Watson and Jerry Jeudy.

The NFL is full of young talent at the WR position. And the last few drafts have shown that you can get guys who can make an impact right away.

Like I said previously, guys who produce like Lazard are available every off-season in free agency. If he keeps playing at the same level, and gets 50 catches, 500-600 yards and half a dozen touchdowns every year, he'll continue to be desired by teams who want a dependable 2nd or 3rd receiver. That's a great accomplishment, especially for a guy that didn't get drafted. But let's not make the story more than it is. Nobody is kicking themselves for not drafting a guy like that, 5 years ago. Every GM in the game has bypassed drafting multiple receivers, better than Lazard in the last couple years alone.

I don't think that any GMs are kicking themselves for not drafting Lazard, but when they see him, I could see them thinking "I probably misevaluated that kid". A solid #2 WR that blocks like he does and is great in the locker room is well worth a late round pick. That said, there are tons of stories like that. We don't need to go any further than Purdy to see it.

let's not forget Lazard is probably the best blocking WR in the league. for any team with a talented outside the tackle RB or a WR1 that can succeed in bubble screens, like perhaps the NY Jets, he's worth a good bit more than simply his catching production

Is Lazard not a solid WR2?

Ok, you named 13 guys; add them all in and Lazard is still a top-half WR2. The top 48 wide receivers are, at worst, a better-than-average 2nd WR on any given team.

Even if there are more rookie contract guys than you mentioned, I'm not sure what you meant by him being a slightly above replacement level guy, but in my head thinking of it like WAR in baseball, Lazard's WAR isn't 0.1 or whatever.

Peter Schrager with NFL Network & Fox released his mock this morning. Has McDonald going to the Eagles at #30. Mentioned Campbell and the Eagles coach being tight.

This would be equal parts painful and joyful... I will start sweating past 27, since Buffalo needs an edge

Dallas might be looking for an edge, San Fran said they wanted another edge, Bengals need an edge, Patriots are always looking for unique talent. I think there's a chance but I'm not getting good vibes from the talking heads nationally.

Sounds like at least one team came away from their interview with McDonald very unimpressed. If he tanked all of his interviews as bad as he tanked this one, I’d be real surprised if he gets taken in the first round
