Having Rock early makes me feel better about the post position for 2024-25.

The scholarship chart for that season as of now is this --

View attachment 114438

There's still one open and a high probability Omaha will depart for the NBA after one season, which would leave two open. Other changes could of course happen but they're harder to predict.

Milan with a year under his belt and Rock with a redshirt year in Ames looks at least adequate for the "center" position. Sophomore Milan and true freshman Rock wouldn't seem as dependable.
I thinks it's obvious we'll be in the market for a transfer big that season. Concentrate NIL monies there. I think it was strategic going for back court players this year that have multiple playing years so that they can funnel their funds towards a big the next season.

I can't wait to see how Kyle Green develops him for multiple years

On the USA team there were some 2024 players that was playing a lot more minutes than Omaha was so I think he’ll play some and not red shirt! Unless you have been told by TJ that he’s red shirting I’ll believe it when I see it

Didn't JT announce it himself?

CF is weird.

The NBA doesn’t exactly value players like him anymore. Rock doesn’t scream athleticism like Chet Holmgren or the other bigs that declare early. In my opinion Rock is way more likely to have a long college career like Edey, Garza, Tshibwe.

Denver has a pretty good 7 footer that doesn't scream athleticism. Just sayin. Hopefully by his third year he is having to make a decision.

Monte Thomas and Niang are dinosaurs. Love those guys. No one stays 4 years anymore. Might as well get early practice time and burn the red shirt if needed, because JT Rock will not be here 5 years. If he can hit >35% FT and not shoot air ball layups, he might be a minor contributor his first year.

Did you love Marcus Fizer?

They would have all likely gone early if the money was there. Monte put his name in the hat after his junior year for feedback but if that feedback were 'you're a first rounder' he gone.

I think Niang has alluded that he probably would have transferred if NIL were around when he played.

I have listened to about every Niang interview, podcast, whatever it be and have never once heard him say anything remotely close to that. That dude loved Iowa State more than anyone we have ever had. Georges is the ultimate Cyclone

Was Tyrese Haliburton an ultimate Cyclone? That guy promotes ISU all over the place.

At some point someone on here said he likely would have jumped. We know ISU wouldn't have been able to cough up the same money as blue bloods had it been in 2015 like it is now.

I have never heard Niang say anything like that. Where did you hear that

Where does he infer he would have transferred in this? Georges would have got a ton of NIL money at Iowa State. He is the most marketable player we have had probably ever. We haven't had a guy like Georges at Iowa State in a while. Also, I wasn't trying to start some "Ultimate Cyclone" debate, I never even brought up Haliburton.

Yes, and Georges saying that he could have done well with NIL is much different than automatically assuming he would have left ISU for the highest bidder.

Not saying he's saying that...but I'm guessing if he would have wanted to take on the biggest NIL deals it wouldn't have been ISU with the best offer.

You didn't bring up Hali but my point is one can love ISU like no other and still move on to something that's a better deal financially as will happen with NIL.

If Niang would have been a lottery pick after his junior year and took off, he could still love ISU and be loved by fans.

Main point being that guys that stayed for 4 years didn't automatically do it because they loved it so much at ISU.

Idk man you should just go watch George’s senior night speech. He loved Iowa State on a different level than guys we have had.
