That really sucks.

Easily one of the best shooters in school history. For you young people, he was on Tyrus McGee levels. And he was just so smooth on the basketball court. A true joy to watch.

damn RIP DW. Such a smooth player, full of energy on both ends of the court. Deadly long range shooter and tough player.....Was fun to watch and really led the team during the time Tim Floyd took the reins after the year of inherited players from Johnny Orr.

That team came out of nowhere—at least for a person who didn’t know how to follow recruiting. I remember my Dad saying that he had noticed Cato on the bench while he was sitting out ;)

Some of you have posted he was before your time. One thing I'll say, he was absolute STONES in crunch time. I've never seen a player -- except maybe Michael Jordan -- who had more of a penchant for sticking in the DAGGER. A team would make a little run to get close, he'd sprint down and nail a three and just suck the life out of them. Definitely belongs in the conversation of all-time greats.

Without a doubt, he's the one you want on the line when the chips are on the table. KU game posted above as evidence.

Yep, and he played pretty much every minute of the game also. I thought he was an underrated defender, but I think in his final season he was battling injuries (which made that performance against UCLA in the tourney that much more impressive).
