Swapping out KU for Houston with a home/home isn't much of a drop off, IMO. Maybe Houston will drop off a bit being in the Big 12 but I think Houston will still draw.

BYU on the other hand will draw because it's got a huge fan base.

I get that on the surface you look at it and go, "oh gross no way" but I think the quality of the game will be just fine. BYU is probably going to be a bit down but Houston will be good again.
The quality will be fine. I agree with you there. But there's simply less juice for ISU-Houston in Houston than ISU-KU in Lawrence

I agree there but 90% of the juice comes from the fan bases in Iowa and Kansas. Outside of that, no one else particularly cares.

I mean, the games have been on ESPN+ for christ sake.

but I don't care about the fan bases outside of Iowa and Kansas... Emphasis on the one based out of Iowa.

How did they decide these? Just a random draw?

And ew, going to Texas one last time is nasty
"Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date."

You could maybe make an argument it was. Gameday did come to Ames.
Yep and then the year after we throttled em in Ames (Matt Thomas dunk) and then won at AFH the year after thanks to Big Balls Donny.

Prohms year

even in freddy's days the series was still a bit lopsided with Iowa St going 4-11 vs. them and 2 of those wins came down in KC on a neutral court. BUT for the most part, the games were competitive and intense

Both years I stated above were actually Prohm years. We also handled them in 2015 but in 2016 we won in gold uniforms and Matt had that dunk.

But just think.. block/charge game happened and the bank 3 by McLemore happened to Fred.

Ames, Iowa
Honestly once OUT leaves they need to lock in 3 guaranteed Home/home per team each year and rotate the rest…

Big 8 teams
-ISU
-KU
-KSU
-OSU

Big 12 additions
-Tech
-Baylor
- TCU
-WV

New Additions
- UH
- Cincy
- UCF
- BYU

You could swap UH and WV if you wanted, but think either or would work out.

Guaranteed home & homes games yearly with your protected/historic rivals and rotate through the other 8 schools year to year.

That's only because ESPN knows those 2 fan bases care enough about their teams to subscribe. That is why they plussed it while putting on SoDakSt vs UT amerilloor some such nonsense on the real ESPNs

Hines appreciate you a lot, but your off on this take. Ku vs. ISU BB fans stop while flipping thru the channels.
mannnnnng

im sticking to this point!

People outside Kansas/Iowa do not care about the game as much as others may think

There’s a reason they put it on espn+ because they know those 2 fan bases will buy/subscribe to watch

Home/Away
BYU
Houston
Kansas State
Oklahoma
TCU

Home Only
Kansas
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
West Virginia

Away Only
Baylor
UCF
Cincinnati
Texas

I think this actually bodes well for us. With our "Home Only" games, especially. Those 4 places are tough to play on the road.

Love having to go to UCF/Cincinnati, too. Feels like winnable games.

At least we know. We've grown so accustomed to double-round-robin, if nothing else seeing the schedule is good off-season intrigue.

Most of the expected quibbles and observations have been posted already.

For NET purposes, getting two vs. UH won't hurt, and one-off @BU @UT won't, either.

ISU should be able to go no worse than 11-7 vs. that slate.

I was trying to get an how it would look for NET purposes. It's hard to say this early, obviously but there still should be 12/13 Q1 games there. I hope, anyway.

For sure Q1 Games
Houston x2
KSU x2
TCU x2
KU
Baylor
Texas

Possible Q1 Games
@BYU (Finished 85th)
@Cincinnati (Finished 70th
@Oklahoma (finished 68th)

All 3 of those possible Q1 games are toss ups. Q1 games on the road must have a NET between 1-75.
