IMO, this is probably a dumb analogy, but if you’re speeding and cop pulls you over you can’t say “I know I was breaking the law, but I was driving safe!”

These athletes know they can’t gamble, regardless of what it’s on, they have a speaker come in every year and give them a talk on this, and if you don’t abide by the guidelines and boundaries that have been set forth for all athletes to follow, then yes, there should be a punishment.

Now, a lifetime ban is probably a bit aggressive, but right now they’re in the “find out” stage of “f**k around, and find out.”

Do they have discussions around drunk driving as well? Cause it seems like that is still a slap on the wrist and multitudes worse of a transgression.

Kind of funny but I did something similar to that a few weeks ago.

I was leaving a race track and I knew there was a stop sign coming up so I was going slow looking for it and rolled right passed it. A cop was sitting there watching and pulled me over. I told him I knew it was somewhere around there and was looking for it and when I saw it I was going by it. He laughed and said I could tell you were looking for it but I had to pull you over. And then just let me go on my way.

But yes these guys have it pounded in their heads that they can’t gamble
I have no idea how much they are told they cannot gamble. But if they watch a sporting event every day, they will probably see a dozen commercials telling them to gamble.

I don't gamble, but if you had a gambling problem, wouldn't you have to give up watching sports forever? Every other commercial is gambling!

I know this is exaggeration but what channel is this happening on? I haven't seen a lot of gambling commercials...although I don't know of hardly any gambling apps to begin with so maybe I have haha.

Hopefully people aren't addicted to body scent lotions because they may have started hoarding Lume.

Like every channel during NFL and college games it seems like. Ceaser's and DraftKings ads are mostly what I see.

I think this whole gambling issue is, if you gamble in other sports, the propensity of gambling within the sport you play. Which would be cyanide for the sport.

The issue is more based on the ability of the gambling entities to get an athlete in debt, or have evidence of them which would get them suspended and then use that to influence outcomes, point shaving etc.

At least once during an NBA game, the studio personalities would have to choose who was going to score the next bucket. Even before the game on TNT, Barkley would have a parlay that he would give a thumbs up or down to, or pick which way he would go on each bet. Of course, these bits were sponsored by a gambling app.

Article about premier league matches, does not talk about commercials, but sign boards. One match had over 3000 instances where a betting firm logo was on the tv in some form during a 2 hour match.

So since this is a message board with speculation and we are not media what are people hearing whispers on today. I’m hearing 1 gone for season(qb) couple with half season suspensions who might just redshirt and some single game suspensions.

The replies to 'Go Hawks's' comment are interesting.
