Big 12 Conference Realignment

A lot of midwest transplants in Arizona, so I would think ISU, KU and K-State would all travel well to Phoenix/Tucson.
Also, ASU has gone through a pretty bad time with Herm Edwards as coach. New coach always brings new energy to a program. If their FB team becomes relevant fan support will surge. There can be a lot of bandwagon fans in a city of 5M.
There is also a chance that SEC/Big 10 could break away from NCAA. Do all these realignments put us in a position to join them? I think they might.
until there is a reason to break away why would they? I only ask because it seems like recently the NCAA is bending end over back to lets schools do what they like. Ever since the NIL and state legislators making laws for NIL. The NCAA seems like a paper tiger. It wasn't too long ago that the NCAA announced infractions to many basketball schools (Kansas got five Level I NCAA violations) after 3 years I am not convinced that anything will come from it since schools showed you just don't cooperate, and the NCAA won't do anything.
The national media providers and media need to be very careful here. They may still be able to provide overall fan interest, but they are getting closer to removing a huge amount of fan interest and support. If they move to a Big 2 & then to hell with everyone else, it's over for college football, IMO, for the majority of us.

My football Bona Fides with each team:
Colorado Buffaloes (4-0) : They are 3-0 @ Iowa State (1989, 1991 and 1993) and 1-0 @ Wisconsin (1994). I was one of the few thousand who braved the blizzard and went to the 1991 game. I've also seen the Buffs play 6 times @ Hilton including the loss on Big Monday on Caucus Night in 1992. I've also seen CU (with Chauncey Billups) in the NCAA Tournament when they lost to UNC @ Winston-Salem the day Dean Smith broke Adolph Rupp's all-time win record in 1997. The same day, ISU upset Cincinnati in the 2nd round!
Arizona State Sun Devils (2-0): Both games were @ Cal in 1985 and 1995. The 1995 game, I was really impressed with their offense (Plummer, Battle, Poole, etc.). One of the best combo of skill players I have seen in person. Plus, Pat Tillman played on that team too. I was not shocked when they won the Pac-10 the following year with those same studs. Bonus: I have been to Sun Devil Stadium for the 1999 Fiesta Bowl (Tennessee vs. FSU) and walked up Mt. Diablo before the game! However, I have not seen ASU in Basketball.
Arizona Wildcats: (0-2): I saw the Wildcats lose a thriller @ LSU in 1984 (26-27) and lose @ Cal in 4 OTs in 1996. Have not seen UA in basketball yet, but I did a walk-through of the McHale Center and Arizona Stadium when I stopped in Tuscon on a move from California to Texas back in 1986. Just walked right in to both of them. Coach Olson wasn't in, but I walked right by his office.
Utah Utes (1-0): I saw them beat Michigan @ Ann Arbor to start the 2008 season. They looked pretty good to me, and I was not shocked when they rocked Alabama in the Sugar Bowl to finish (13-0) that season. I have yet to see the Utes in basketball.

I had not seen this 'Baylor' channel w/ Patrick before. He does a good job. This clip was great and very unifying for the new Big 12 going forward!
I hope that perhaps someone or some folks from Ames (Iowa State) could develop some pods that might be a bit more national, and not just promote ISU. There are so many emerging podcasts now! We'll see. There might be a bit too many at this point, I don't know. But I'm always looking for the 'good' ones.

It is heading that way… we’ll see if the NCAA will get to renew March Madness once the current contract is up. That could be next Extinction Level Event for college athletics.
Yormark trying to make the Big 12 THE basketball power could really help the conference inclusion as the P2 will need 64 teams for the new tourney.
There is no way Big10/SEC would want a tourney without KU/AZ plus the rest of the to 10 schools and potentially UCONN/Gonzaga.
As I said in another thread, the NCAA tournament is a bad deal for basketball heavy conferences. Football keeps all the profit from the CFP in the conferences where the NCAA tournament funds the NCAA. There needs to be a change to having the NCAA organization money come form the general funds so the basketball tournament pays out a comparable amount to the CFP. Basketball is seen as secondary in realignment because they only pay out 30% of the TV revenue brought in from the tournament. You do that for the CFP and realignment settles down real fast.
I assume the mega thread was caved. I couldn’t find it. I enjoyed the video and am actually excited that ISU is in this conference for once. Hopefully we can have some time of stabilization. I do wonder what will happen to Stanford and Cal? Hate this time in college sports but am glad the B12 survived. I wasn’t thrilled about adding Utah and Arizona State, but after reading some of the articles, the ACC would have got them. Smart move by Yormark.
Damn, I hate to say this but pods are a better option then divisions for us now.
Division we'd end up with the 2 Kansas' and the 5 west schools because they won't split the Texas schools. Better to be in a KU, KST, Colorado pod.

I think by “enough” you mean the whole MWC. Anyone left out is absolutely going to sue claiming that some (or all) the schools that go to the PAC had a conflict of interest when they voted to dissolve. And they’ll win. I appreciate the confidence that only a college sports message board can...
