I'm confused, so the only charge currently is Tampering with Records of an investigation even though the district attorney publicized that the Dekkers "engaged in a scheme" to allow Hunter to bet under the guise of his Mom? Is the tampering related to the investigation of that or is the tampering charge related to the scheme itself?

If it's the former, which is what the articles I've read seem to insinuate, why publicize an ongoing investigation? That doesn't seem right to me. I would also be curious as to how they are trying to prove that they tampered with electronic records. Did they delete texts/emails after the warrant was issued and if that's the case, why wouldn't the DCI already be in possession of those records after the search warrant was executed in May.

I understand a lot of people take DAs at face value sometimes, but they are prone to mistakes and bias(especially around election times) as well and there's a lot of waiting we'll have to do as more info comes out.

Edit: Ok, so the tampering is from falsifying the account to conceal wrongdoing

Honest question. What if I am a student athlete of legal gambling age. Can I place a bet on the Super Bowl coin toss, or length of National Anthem during the Super Bowl?

According to NCAA rules, no. But if it’s a small enough bet, it’s nothing more than going to a class to talk about why gambling is bad.

You'd think this is a dig but this is actually my dream, if I stumbled across one of our shirts at a Goodwill I'd be ecstatic. Some of the best shirts are found thrifting.

Ran across some vintage walking Cy once at Goodwill, bought them and gave them to ISU niece. They were the wrong size for me.

I get the arguments from an individual point of view; about parents placing bets for their Athletic kids, and the severity of the consequences that the kids face, as well as the state resources used to prosecute. But on the other hand, how long will it take for D1 athletes to realize, if there are few consequences, that all they have to do is get parents to place bets for them. Then the law against athlete's gambling becomes meaningless, and the obvious purpose of provision is no longer valid, which I assume is the potential for inside information and possible fixing games for profit, at the expense of legitimate wagerers.

Since I'm spending most my time on the 'other' thread I'm behind on this one. Can someone enlighten me a bit on IF Iowa is also under investigation? Are there any other states or schools currently under investigation for gambling? I ask simply because the 'odds' of just the state of Iowa are overwhelming against. Which suggests one of three scenarios: 1. Investigations are focused on this state or 2. Gambling 'pushers' are key to the saturation of illegal gambling. 3. The state if Iowa has superior gambling tracking mechanisms BTW, I'm definitely open to other theories which could explain this anomaly.

Not gonna lie, the downplaying/joking of Blom betting on the Iowa under by national media guys is really weird. Like of course we/us will make those jokes on the forums, but national guys with actual credentials doing it horribly undercuts the loss of eligibility for him and the implications these bets imply for states that didn't investigate it.
