How does the under look good this year?
Total has gone down to 5 now, the under is -130. With multiple guys out for multiple games a new QB it is hard to find wins. We will lose to UNI IMO (hope I'm wrong) ISU went 3-0 in non-con last year and still only won 4 games. I have no idea where wins are going to come from.

We aren't losing to UNI. Our defense is going to be very good again and their defense is not going to be good.

The defense will be good enough that they can win some games. If the O-line has come along and developed (who knows), then a bowl is not impossible. We may be glad, in the end, that Dekkers is gone, even given his arm talent.

On the other hand, if the offense is a hopeless morass, then there will be much pain.

The offense was essentially hopeless last year outside of Hutch. Everyone else I could care less if they were back, including Hunter. He had arm talent that was no doubt impressive, but after everything we've heard and seen, he was a terrible leader. You add that, with a poor OL and horrible offensive play calling, and you have a recipe for disaster. Not to mention our ST which lost us two games.

I don't think we'll win 8 games, but I don't think we're winning only 4 either.

Is there stuff on the premium board that digs deeper into this? I'm curious.

There's some stuff but not a ton of stuff, nor actual specifics (yet). I'm sure more and more is going to come out though. Overall, what I've heard is that Hunter was more of a me guy than a we guy.

I'm not worried about beating UNI. I was down in Lawrence when Sam Richardson made his first career start. The rest of the season, eeehhhhhh. I try to be optimistic

I enjoy how many casual non-educated fans come out on these forums. Yes, if you look specifically at wins and losses, we sucked. However, if you want to publicly show how little you paid attention to last year, then yes keep doing what you are doing.

Here are the facts-
We had the 4th youngest team in the ENTIRE NCAA. Very inexperienced
We had the 103rd ranked offense. Very bad

However, even with all of that being terrible, we had opportunities to win 8 games. In fact we were only 17 points away from winning 8 games. And had we won 8 games, nothing would have changed.

Last year was a blessing in disguise, and I will die on this hill.
Here are the positives that have come from last year.
-New Offensive coordinator that has former P5 football experience, and had success at a high level
-New offensive line coach-I believe this will be one of the most underrated hires this year
-And FINALLY a ST coordinator

*I think Dekkers being gone also helps the team. Kid was a nightmare between the ears

I'm not sitting here saying we all need to book tickets to the rose bowl, but there is no doubt in my mind that 6 wins is achievable

I think the one issue we wont have this year is depth

I've asked before and don't believe I got much of an answer...where is the depth? Is it talented depth or just multiple legit D1 level players at a few positions?

I'm not sure if anyone is hyping up UNI.

ISU has had problems with them when UNI has had marginal teams.
While true, if you go back and look both the 2021 and the 2019 games, their defense was pretty stellar against us. Our offensive game plan was also not only vanilla, but non-threatening. With their defense not even going to be close to that, coupled with the fact that we have a new OC and guys who legit need to get a feel for the game, I think we're going to come in with a different mentality.

My couch fan intuition told me he wasn't exactly open to coaching and had a bit of deer in headlights in him.

I think Farley also ****ing hates ISU and will have his group on edge for the poaching of his Oline guy.

The first game isn't generally an indication of the season on the whole but it would be nice if the 'reset' for ISU came out hitting the ground running.
