About a year ago, I got a chance to fulfill a longtime dream to drive a Zamboni as part of a class through Ames Parks and Rec. I was just terrible, burnt out terribly, but it was everything I had dreamed and more. My daughter was there to take video and was mortified that I had zero chill.

What is on your bucket list? What items have you fulfilled? Did they live up to it?

Maybe I'm weird. I never really had a bucket list per se, but I had a general idea of grand things I wanted to do. As I've gotten older, I've shifted from looking forward much (or back, at all) to just trying to make the most of my day or week.

If I had an overarching life goal at this point, it is to enjoy my wife and family, and make life wonderful for our pups. And really that goal isn't really those things, but the peace and contentment that those things bring to me.

Testifying
I'd like to do the Kentucky Derby all dressed up with wife and friends.
I'd like to do the Masters.

I did one of those stupid rides on top of the Stratosphere- X-Scream.

I promised my wife that we would visit Italy at some point and I really want to visit Southern England and Wales where many of my ancestors originated.

√ Had my picture taken with Dale Earnhardt
√ Been to Pacific and Atlantic oceans
√ Saw Old Faithful erupt
√ Went to NFL divisional playoff game (Chiefs vs Bills 2022)

Current bucket list:
Visit Scotland (planning a trip next year)
Visit Yellowstone in the winter and spend a night or two at Old Faithful Lodge
Have a retirement and retirement place my husband and I don't need a vacation from

My bucket list has changed over the years. There are things I'd like to see/do, but most important is time with my immediate family.

Not a bucket list per se, more like "would like to do these things".
  • see the Clones at all the Big12 stadiums (see you there @CyGuy5)
  • visit all the national parks and monuments
  • spend a couple months living (not just visiting) Ireland, Japan, NZ, maybe UK and south of France as well. Just live like the natives and get really comfortable there for a few months.

I only got to spend one day in London (also my bucket list) this past September and it was everything I hoped. I am a bit of an Anglophile - I hope to go back soon!

Since I've been able to remember I've been fascinated with the Empire State Building. And always wanted to go to the top. I've been in the lobby twice but for whatever reason the observation level was closed both times. But finally I will be there the week after the Iowa football game this year and go to the top!!! :)

Most of my bucket list items are travel related...

*Visit all 50 states (6 left: VT, NH, ME, CT, RI, MA)

*Visit all 13 Canadian provinces & territories (have been to Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario)

We're making a swing through New England and some of the maritime provinces late next spring that will finish off our US states and add New Brunswick, PEI, and Nova Scotia, coming through Quebec on our way back. So we'll just have the territories and Newfoundland/Labrador left after that. Those might be a bit of a tough sell as spouse doesn't like the cold as much as I do. :D

*Visit all 7 continents. We have 5 so far - North America (duh!) South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania (Australia & surrounding island countries).

Next January we will be visiting Egypt and Jordan so Africa is coming up. Jordan will be the west end of Asia (we visited our marine in Okinawa, so that was the eastern end). I'm working on Antarctica before we're too decrepit to make the trip, but once again it's a tough sell. I have a girlfriend that might go with me, though.

Finally, crazy as it sounds - I want to set foot in the Arctic and Antarctic circles. I've stood on the equator in Ecuador, might as well balance that out.
