5/22, that's 23% of our starters gone, at least for a good chunk of the season. Not gonna be a good season IMO but Campbell gets a total pass on this year too. We will need LOTS of breaks in order to sniff a bowl game.
Chris Williams put his own total (on Miller and Condon) out for ISU at 4.5. The books have dropped us from 5.5 to 5. He said we'll have to get some breaks to get 6 wins. I guess I am not the only one that feels this way.

Ive thought more about this since last night and i realized a couple things. One, i apologize for how aggressive i came at you, and two I dont disagree that we will need some breaks to get to 6 wins, but in the grand scheme of things, whoever wins the national championship will have had some breaks to get there too. Unless its georgia and they can ride their cake schedule the whole way.

On the flip side, I also think there will be some positives that come out of this whole situation. just unsure of what those are yet

Thank you sir, I appreciate that. Says something about the person you are.

As far as breaks, yes! Even Georgia needs them. What if Stetson Bennett got hurt last year? They might be able to overcome it. Every team is coming for you, you'll have to be near perfect most of your games even against lesser opponents.

If ISU makes a bowl game this year after all the staffing changes, players suspended and the general situation ISU is in, I'd say put a statue up of Campbell right after the season. (Heacock too!) Lots of obstacles to overcome and if they do, it will be nothing short of amazing IMO.

This sort of thing was inevitable when betting on college sports was made legal. Something I haven't seen discussed much be all the gambling advocates.
Newsflash: It's always been happening. Legalizing gambling gave authorities the tools to catch it.

I'm of the belief that they have done enough to improve upon last year. Simply because I do not believe we could do worse. I think even though there is inexperience everywhere, I think QB play will be better, and I think we will have improvement along the OL that will result in a much better running game. It does not help that we have the 4th toughest schedule this year however. But, based on our schedule, I think we will fall into 6 wins somehow.

This is purely my speculation, but I believe the "gray cloud" that was hanging over the program is gone for the most part, and the team can focus on football. Ready for the season to start.

I am curious about your thoughts on who our wins/losses are!

So these 4 players out goes from a projected losing season to the same thing?

Sign me up for moving forward and actual growth.

Mannnnn, i think we steal one at home against TCU. Also, Iowa still has BF. Its not like they got that much better

They got way better at QB and that makes them better by default. McNamara hasn’t been beaten down by the “Iowa Way” for 3 years so his instincts should still be intact and that will create some plays for them, especially early in the season. Also with the new clock rules Iowa benefits greatly imo

The fringe may have done it, but not widespread like it obviously is now.
I've tried telling people this before but offshore betting has always been very easy. I knew plenty of people that did it when I was in college. I gaurantee there were athletes using it and probably still are.

When CF Editor and a guy whose livelihood is Cyclone athletics says “this is going to be a rebuilding year” everyone needs to listen up.

We might even be worse than the negative outlooks.

ISU is 4th worst in the big 12 for over/under win totals, tied with KU and BYU. Assuming they beat those two teams, and beat the teams picked worse than them, as well as UNI and Ohio, theres 5 wins there. Outlook is bleak, but i would take the over at 4.5. I think there are a few B12 teams that take a step back this year. I think the only games you can count out right now are at OU and KSU. Everything else will be close, IMO.
