@Tailg8er Do you work for the ISU athletics ticket department...Or are you simply disagreeing with my real life negative experiences and comments because you think a new time limitted data/login requiring ticket app will work super great on games days in Ames?

You just don’t seem to have any clue how it actually works.

No, I don't work for ISU, I've just attended plenty of athletic events/concerts that require this same technology. I don't doubt you've had issues, what I doubt is that you were using the wallet correctly. When used correctly, you do not need any internet or connection whatsoever to access/use your tickets..

As I mentioned, it's possible to access your tickets within the wallet app, but using the TicketMaster website. This is NOT the way to do it as it does require data (I made this mistake my first time using at ISU). There's no data required to pull tickets from a wallet - yes, even these new 'live' tickets.

Or maybe Google wallet isn't as robust as you believe (I don't have Apple, maybe it is way better IDK). Yes, I know exactly how it works. This issue isn't that you can't take the tickets offline just fine, but that the apps/wallets don't always work well offline. They like to phone home once in a while, otherwise they start having issues like I said.

I have never once had an issue with Google Wallet. I didn't know we had RF engineers on the site.

It is tricky regarding what to do with extra tickets. Often, we would distribute them at the tailgate. I always had PDFs just in case we couldn't get internet through the cell service. This year, we will be dependent on cell service for the last minute ticket shuffling.

Is it possible to air drop them if both parties have Apple phones?

So - forgive me if this is repetitive. I bought tickets today to a game. I quickly received the confirmation email in my icloud address and instantly retrieved and uploaded the mobile tickets to my apple wallet. When I tap on the tickets in my apple wallet it does show the icon that it is trying to find a Reader. We shall see!

So I added my UNI tickets to my wallet, and it appears as though the parking pass doesn't use the same technology? When I open the tickets, I can see the barcode refresh to a new one every 15 seconds, but the parking pass barcode never refreshes.

Also curious how the NFC aspect will work - do you have to open each ticket then tap?

So I was able to add the uni parking pass to my apple wallet but I get an error when trying to add the football tickets. It asks for face ID and then click continue and then it says they can't be added at this time.

Shouldn't have to do that. You just scroll from one ticket to the next on your phone and hold close enough to their reader. It will show a green check or some confirmation that it read it. The person standing there will confirm your people count match your ticket count scanned.

Also, I would guess maybe the parking passes are not the same because they don't want to have to deploy readers to all those various outward areas. Just easier in those cases to have a person looking at them. The Chiefs did the same at the training camp I went to a couple weeks back. Parking pass was not "live" but the tickets to enter in were and they had readers set up at the gates to get in with a person standing there observing. Goes very fast as long as people entering have the first one pulled up and ready to go when they get to the reader.

Per ISU Email.

All fans are required to enter MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium using a mobile ticket. The easiest way to access your mobile tickets is via the free ISU Cyclones App. You can also access your tickets online using Account Manager.

If you haven't logged into your account recently you may need to reset your password. Simply follow the prompts on the screen to reset the password and verify your contact information.

ISU Athletics has implemented Ticketmaster's SafeTix for all events. With SafeTix, your phone is your ticket! It is designed to provide the best possible entry experience and cut down on fraudulent tickets. When using SafeTix, printouts and screenshots will not be accepted at entry.

These tickets are powered by a new and unique barcode that automatically refreshes every 15 seconds so it cannot be stolen or copied, keeping your tickets safe and secure. Also, Apple Wallet and Google Wallet tickets will not have a barcode- you will simply tap your phone on the scanning device at the stadium entrance.
Boomer here thanks for the anxiety. Have some drinks and learn a new app on game day. How much easier can it get? Being mindless with a paper ticket used to be the norm. Now all the law abiding boomers have to put more crap on our phones to prevent theft from someone else. Just half kidding, I can manage. ;)

People really like to ***** about nothing. It’s really not difficult to figure out, and the more you complain, the dumber you look.

Do a little research if and quit acting like you’ve never seen a smartphone before. There is probably a 5 minute YouTube tutorial on how to properly use google/Apple wallet you can watch.

What if my research leads me down a rabbit hole and I find out the earth is flat?

There isn't near the risk of counterfeit parking passes as there is with tickets. No need to have extra security on them.
