I bought a case this afternoon in Storm Lake HyVee. One six pack left. The Wine & Spirits manager (Dan Hartman) said he would be getting more tomorrow.
Seems like they are more available in the northwest part of state. Not surprising. I had a buddy that was vacationing at Okoboji bring back eight 6 packs for me.I bought a case this afternoon in Storm Lake HyVee. One six pack left. I'm definitely going to be more open to trying additional West O beers because of this. Have had Coco after it won a gold at GABF, but not sure I've tried any of their other stuff.Hopefully it can be a neat opportunity to prop up a brewer that decided they wanted to be part of this and they will be able to grow thanks to Cyclone fans.

I’m really surprised WestO was the only option for this beer. Someone like Confluence would’ve killed it brewing this. Someone smarter than me might be able to explain but a small brewery in an isolated part of the state was an odd choice. Don’t get me wrong, picked some up on Friday and drank through 6 four packs very quickly over the weekend, but odd, nonetheless.
In the end if I’m going to pick a horse for the masses between a lager and a golden ale I’ll go with the lager every time (even if not my preference). Supply will catch up to demand. West O is a solid brewery and this will eventually put them in the upper tier of Iowa breweries imoThat's true, but Exile can still afford to shift some of that capacity to Swarm and I'm not sure or rather don't know if West O does have that ability.
You're definitely right about the timing. With football season, it's definitely going to be in higher demand. It's kind of head scratching a larger brewery didn't agree to a partnership. There's very little downside IMO. You're brewing a beer for a group of people who have historically drank establishments out of alcohol (Hawk and Cyclone fans alike) and who are extremely passionate about supporting their schools. I would assume the donation can also be used as a tax write off? I would also imagine it's easier for individuals to support the NIL Collectives through purchasing beer rather than making an actual donation. Heck, as a Cyclone leaning Panther fan, I'd buy a sixer just to try it, but there's no reason I would ever make a donation.
Went to two Fareways and a Hy-Vee in the Des Moines metro on Wednesday and couldn't find any Ames Lager![]()
The point is to get beer while also giving $$ to WeWill, so I'd pay you what you bought them for, and also give $10 to WeWill.
I hope so. They definitely have a nice lineup. Hopefully this opportunity is the move that pushes them to the next level. In the end if I’m going to pick a horse for the masses between a lager and a golden ale I’ll go with the lager every time (even if not my preference). Any places around Marion with supply?
Can We Will OWN their own brewery?Stingy fanbase when it comes to donations, but we'll make it rain on cases of beer.
