Someone please say this is wrong....

An employee at the Jordan Creek Hy-Vee said they likely won't get anymore Ames Lager for football season... Is that true????
I don't think that's right but I would guess it's 4-6 weeks before we see more in stores.

A while back I think someone said commercial lager production takes 6-8 weeks.
On Aug 11 WestO installed 3000 gallons of additional capacity. Assuming those have been brewing for a couple weeks, we're still a couple months from the product being done and in stores.

I haven't read this whole thread, so forgive me if this has been covered, but is this available in NW Iowa, particularly the Sioux City area? I'm visiting family this weekend and would love to pick some up.
Do stores in NW Iowa sell it? Probably. Is it available? Probably not.

Unfortunately can’t find it on the shelves in the Sioux City area. Called some stores and distributor and sounds like they don’t know when and if they will, which doesn’t make sense since it’s made near us. Hopefully they get that fixed soon!

This does not help my nervousness for the post below I had at noon today....

That would be assuming they weren't brewing any Ames Lager in any of their existing equipment.. Might be hard to find, but I'm guessing it will keep trickling out throughout football season. There's been no indication from Brent or West O that we can expect zero supply for the next 2-3 months (or even the next month), so highly doubt that's true.

I am going to try to find some tonight. I have had the Clonefest in the past few years and really liked it. I am not a big lager fan in general but I am excited to try it anyway. I do want to try the Legend beer too. Is that more plentiful to find?

I've seen some of the Legends everywhere I've been this week.

HyVee on Fleur had quite a bit. I grabbed six six packs and only made a small dent.

Wasn’t very hopeful being out of the country but first stop after the airport set me up

Anyone know if you can stop at WestO and fill up a growler at the tap house?

Honestly, I don't see many growler refilling places anymore. Seems like they're crowlers, at best.

I just went to 5 stores in Ankeny (2 HyVees, 2 Fareways, and Liquor Lovers) and couldnt find any sign of any of the ISU beers. Kind of bummed.

I get why some breweries wouldn't want to "offend half the market" or whatever....but aren't these micro breweries doing the Iowa and ISU beer also potentially going to blow by the others in the state?

Couldn't it be like you do the Iowa beer and you dominate at a 60% clip, you do the ISU beer and you dominate at a 40% clip...you don't do either and you fall behind?

I'm out of state so who knows, but I would think within a couple years Swarm and Ames Lager will be the #1 and #2 local beer in the state with separation right? Is there some other Iowa brewery that sells a ton nationwide and doesn't need to do well in Iowa?
