Two guys named Chris is great.

I missed the spot, but is Hassel now doing radio for the Learfield folks?

Still crazy little Lick played P6 basketball.

It's crazy to me that Fran and Kirk's offspring aren't automatically the worst examples of nepotism in their fb and basketball programs.

Iowa's previous basketball coach played a kid who was even worse than 6 year starter Conner McCaffe and also potentially worse at basketball than Kirk's kid is as an offensive coordinator.

I bet you could look at every college and pro team at every level and not find three separate cases of nepotism at that level.

Meanwhile we had ol Greg worried that his kid Dougie wasn't good enough to play in the Big 12.

Hassel has turned into a non-stop troll. He can't wait to jump on anything CW says about ISU. He refuses to give honest discussion about ISU topics. He's an insecure bully who needs someone to pop him.
Talk to people that knew him as a kid and young adult. He is a ginormous DB, and deep down, hates Iowa State. It's good to see that he is a capitalist and wants a career, but I refuse to listen because of his hatred and back-handed/condescending comments about my Clones. Sorry, CW.

It is a little too general for me. Or maybe I'm spoiled with Chris and Brent because they go a lot deeper with more insight than the new Firmly Entrenched. But its only been a few shows so it takes time to build.
That's not a fair comparison. CW and Blum have more inside info and have been doing ISU shows together on and off for 15+ years.

I like Brend. It's always nice to have a local voice who is unabashedly an Iowa State fan. He has some personality. Osen takes too long to get to his point. We can tell where he's going, but he has to say "Jake" in every sentence, so we're left waiting for him to finish the thought. He was a little corny for my tastes, but he is a great reporter and has a bright future.

I hope they find a good replacement. I was looking forward to that pod developing.

That's what I've picked up on. You can tell the way he talks to CW. I know it's a schtick, but it has its origins in reality. He looks like a pipsqueak now, but used to be a big guy in high school and obviously has a big mouth. I know a bully when I hear it.

My interpretation was Greg didn’t think ISU was good enough for his kid

I love Hassel. He's my favorite guy on sports podcasts. I will listen to that show for decades if they keep it going. I like J Miller, CW, Blum and Woody too but TGNC has something for sure. I liked Scotty talking basketball a lot while we had him. Bruns is great on football for the specific nuts and bolts he covers and I actually learn something.

For a bi-weekly shoot the s*** sports talk radio style podcast Two Guys Named Chris is my favorite show of all time. It's better "radio" than any national show I've ever listened to and makes me laugh. They are playing characters to an extent. Hassel isn't truly the "elitist" Chris jabs him about and Williams isn't the country hick hassel jabs him about.

The show is better because they keep each other honest about the reality of the programs and neither of them blows smoke about what is going on. If it was Jon Miller and CW it'd probably be pretty similar quality because he brings a lot of the same stuff Hassel does, not quite as funny but he has a great sense of humor too.

This is an odd take. So instead of coach his own son at a P6 school, he sends him to UNI where he came from and left for greener pastures instead?

Personally, I think it was that Greg knew it wasn't going to end well and that he would likely be fired during Dougie's time at ISU if he enrolled.

This makes sense at least.

It's this but it's just the height of irony that Lil Lick overlapped the period where there was debate if Doug was a MVC or Big 12 level player.

Lil Lick was a long ways from being an MVC caliber player and if you re-recruit that class Doug is probably wearing a Duke jersey.

You talk to people from Muscatine about a guy that grew up there 25 years ago? That's kinda weird

Yes, it is wierd. If half of the comments are true (kids he grew up with), I firmly believe people don't fundamentally change way deep down and he shows his true side with his condescending and back handed compliments. He is a typical u know what - he didn't go.to Iowa.
