Most of them don’t drop to FCS. They go to other high majors or mid majors.
But that would still qualify as a miss, especially if they don't transfer to another top 25 program.

Whether Saban, Smart, Ferentz or Campbell recruiting is a numbers game and somewhere around 50% of recruits don't end up earning significant snaps. No different in basketball where there are only 13 scholarships.

To say Campbell's recruiting, development and retention isn't better than ISU coaches since Earle Bruce is ignoring reality.

Scoreboard- look at each coaches Big12 record during their tenure.

Woof. Only 4 kids went to other high major schools(isheem Young not listed). At least 14 had to drop to the FCS level. That is a lot of big misses.
That says two things to me: this coaching staff is doing well retaining quality guys, but the program don't have the depth that causes guys to look elsewhere for playing time at similar level.

A lot of misses compared to who? I think their misses have gone way down from the past. For the majority of our past, we didn't go beyond the 1 deeps and be competitive. Roughly 75% couldn't play at the DI level.

There are a lot guys at Alabama that never play and don't transfer.....you will never know what there playing level is or is not.

Maybe there is a website that lists all transfers by school and where they ended up. That could be interesting to look at.
Yeah, unless we are looking at real data, I have a hard time saying if this is overall good or bad.

I did find this SI article from last year that kind of shows that only a bit more than half stay in the FBS.

It says to me that that (especially with COVID years) there is a total glut of transfers on the market, so some guys are finding it wise to grab the best option immediately available.

Some of the kids jumping into the portal after being at a school for a semester—or their second time—it’s bug nuts.

With past coaches, players would transfer out and we would never hear a thing about them. Under Campbell, there will be some transfers that play in the NFL. We have two guys at Florida A&M, a school that scouts keep an eye on. Corey Suttle and Michal Antoine are coming off of solid seasons and could get picked up as undrafted free agents. Narveson was solid at Western Kentucky and is now at N.C. State. He will get a shot for sure.

Do what you love and the money will (not always) take care of it self. My nephew 26 y/o is a talented kid - he lives with mom/dad and works at a skateboard shop in LA. That is his life goal. As an manufacturing engineer, I have no idea what to tell him. My job is 100% stress. His is 0% stress. These guys are doing what they love and will at least have some memories and stories as they move on in life.

2021 me would never believe Isheem Young was struggling to find playing time in power five football. Just wild.

I’m always bummed when any player transfers but almost all of these guys are struggling or not even playing at lower levels. Seems like many of them transferred out for a lack of will

I'll say it again. His concussions with us, I believe, played heavily in his departure. And may subsequentially not be worth the liability going forward. I wish the best for him.
