Reading between the lines, it appears Shannon lost a full season for betting on an Iowa WBB game. Punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime but I doubt Iowa will win the appeal.

From the sounds of it, kirk mentioned that two others were facing suspension of varying lengths, probably won't know who until next Saturday.

Is this still the case? Are there going to be a couple other Hawkeye players that we'll be finding out about today or tomorrow?

I heard this little nugget yesterday, and, no I have no proof but don’t doubt it one bit.

A colleague said the gambling investigation was instigated by Kim Reynolds. She was pissed at Iowa State (and Iowa I assume) for pushing back on her wanting to kill DEI instruction/programming on campus. My colleague said she heard it from three different people.

Again, I have no proof but given what we know about Kim Reynolds I don’t doubt this at all.

There are a bunch of rumors swirling, I have heard multiple ones from multiple people.

I don't know, doesnt seem logical. I'm sure she has big supporters who are UI/ISU FB fans. More importantly, she has a lot better ways to punish the regents institutions and she (and the legislature) has used them.

It was all a show by the state of Iowa, what a waste of EVERYONES time and energy. Just like I said from the beginning give them the $645 underage gambling ticket.
You do understand how plea bargaining works, right?

Defense attorneys don't just belly up to the bar and plop down a guilty plea. It is their job (and actually their ethical and professional mandate) to poke holes wherever they may in the State's case.

If the state fails to do the work necessary to gather the evidence in a Constitutional manner, then the defense attorney won't be telling his client "hey kid just plead guilty to that unsupported charge because it will save time", especially where there are NCAA implications.

And anybody who believes whatever a defense attorney spouts, especially in a self-congratulatory press release--I've got this bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

I personally would opine (which aint worth much) , however, that this is a fair resolution of the matter.

Yes I understand.

It is a fair resolution and should have been the original resolution instead of wasting time and resources.

My hope is Enyi doesn't settle and takes it all the way.

So when are we going to hear anything regarding the NCCA punishment for the rest of them. I know they released Hanika and Remsburgs punishment, whats holding up the others? Also, I still can't believe Dekkers is still listed on the roster. That guy will never suit up for ISU again so just get on with it.

Enyi should do what is in his best interests and I wish him the very best.

I can respect someone thinking it is overcharging (that is what defense attorneys are paid to do).

So other than not filing a single charge against the 3, where do you think the State wasted its resources? They had to follow up on the book's information before they could charge the offense to which the defendants just plead guilty as well.

The book(s) software discovered people logged into the app from inside athletic facilites and turned it over to the DCI to investigate as their licenses say they have to.

There's no conspiracy here.

Ok the County (The Prosecutor) wasted time and resources. They simply could have issued a ticket and it would have been done and over with.
