I get that most of these online blogs are quantity of quality, but man this awful.

Michigan transfer QB Cade McNamara hung up a perfectly thrown 36-yard scoring pass to Seth Anderson in the first minute of the 24-14 win over Utah State, and followed it up with a three-yard touchdown pass to fellow Michigan transfer TE Erick All, and the defense took care of everything else.

Iowa State's offense didn't do anything great in the 30-9 win over Northern Iowa. 250 yards, a pick-six from the defense, help from the special teams - the team pieced together points.

So McNamara's 36 yd and 3 yd TDs were worth noting, even calling the first "perfectly thrown".

But Rocco's 14 yd TD or 36 yd TD means ISU's offense didn't' do "anything great", or even worth mentioning? lol

Yeah I can get on board with what you’re saying. I will say that on the first drive we got great push and the hold was not needed by Noel. Same with Simmons hold on the next play. Ball was out to Klotz right away. Who knows what that drive nets though.

We actually ran the ball okay. Our ypc was fine. The drive where we got stuffed isn’t as bad as you’re saying. I don’t like that Sanders was in there, but even so, we got 8 yards before getting stuffed on one play and then we got a small QB in on a sneak.

UNI is a well coached team. When it was clear we were not going to be aggressive, they stacked the box and sent run blitzes. If you look at the drives where we didn’t have JJ in, or we weren’t just running it to drain the clock, we were above average. We have been much much worse against UNI.

I do agree on the WRs. They didn’t show much, but we also didn’t throw the ball much. Gonna have to put a pin in that.
Agree on UNI being well coached and having been worse. I guess my grade is in part it felt like a very Tom Manning game plan.

Which is fine, but then, if you're going to have a Tom Manning game plan, why not have Tom Manning? I guess that was my biggest confusion.

I get protecting young quarterbacks and being vanilla. But it almost looked like at times in terms of play selection we got rid of Manning and then used his call sheet.

Our best drives were drives where we mixed in the outside zone or the buck sweep - that first run I literally leapt out of the chair with excitement when we hit on the perimeter and it looked like we pulled or did a wide reach. I was like, "yes!" then we preceeded to run inside zone 45 billion times Lol.

If we're going to win Saturday and I hope to high chickens we do - but we're going to have to probably pass for north of 150. Unless we are able to run effectively. And I don't know if 5-6 yard passes to the TE is going to cut it.

The defender straight up fell on their first TD too lol. I LOVE national media thinking this will be a walk in the park for Iowa.

Largest victory ISU has had in this century has been 23 to 3. Can you please break that record.
I would consider selling what's left of my soul for 27-0. Highly unlikely to happen and I probably wouldn't end up doing it but other than a deal to bring my mother back - who would then whup my a** for being stupid -

If some mystical being offered me a 27-0 complete butt whupping of Iowa on national TV, I'd think long and hard about it LOL

We did do some different things like going under center for a counter run to Norton who got 15 yards. But again, I’ll reiterate, it worked perfectly in my eyes. We got up big via our offense, defense and help of special teams, and was able to walk out without showing really anything. Now, if we don’t show anything different in the Iowa game, I’ll be concerned.

On that play to Klotz, it was out so fast that the hold almost had to come after the ball was in the air.

It came almost simultaneously. It absolutely didn’t need to happen either. Simmons got blown by but the play was PA rolling left and it was either going to Klotz or the corner route by the WR.

No idea how it would have turned out if he hadnt fallen, but he was flat out beaten either way. He would have been open by 10 yards instead of 15.

They ran the ball horribly. They ran for 88 yards at 2.4 ypc. From my eyes, their OL didn't pass block poorly but they weren't very very good as you'd say. Cade did do a very good job getting rid of the ball quickly though, which is what Spencer rarely ever did, and if he did it was going into the stands as a souvenir.

Even with that though, Cade threw for under 50% against a poor defense and should've thrown a couple interceptions but the defense dropped em.
Against a team that LOST 10 defensive starters from last year

Granted but as someone who watches the MWC regularly, that was not by accident. They knew they needed a refresh on defense. They were awful on defense last year.

-----------

none of that changes how bad Iowa's OL looked last week. Just saying. Utah State's loss of 10 starters in this scenario doesn't mean what you think it means kind of deal lol, other than they were inexperienced but they feel like they're better without those kids, mostly at least

LMAO the first TD pass was on completely blown coverage. Lamar Latrelle could have made that throw.
