I have no faith in Campbell after seeing what our players are doing in the nfl this year. I think he got lucky
So they’re doing what they’re doing despite their time at ISU?

They are doing what they are doing in spite of ISU. If u don’t think we should have put up way more points with the defense we had. I don’t know what to tell u
That’s amazing that they had no development or regressed and still got to where they are!

I care about scoring points and winning and we didn’t do team hat their senior year and junior year. Developing means nothing if the offensive system u play in sucks

That’s completely different measure though isn’t it. What’s a good ppg average for the offense do you think?

Just to help you out, pretty crazy our scoring and record compared to Baylor and Oklahoma state that year..

I'm not sure what qualifies as good but they averaged 33 pts/game in 2020, 31 in '21.

'20 gets a depleted KSU and a WV team coming off a 3 week break to play a December game in Ames to help that average immensely.

It was a weird mix of having some real nice talent in places but still being limited.

Yeah I added some stats. We lost on the road in ‘21, our offense was between 2 12-2 teams in points.

Does it matter?

How could it possibly be any worse than what we are seeing now?

There are many coaches that would gladly take the ISU job.

One of them has earned the chance.

CMC has shown how stubborn he is, and there is no hope for change or improvement on the offensive side of the ball while he is coach.

None.

Teams with more talent know they can beat us.

Teams with similar talent know our obvious game plan and simply flip it on us.

What evidence can you point to that Campbell will adjust his philosophy?
I disagree that others couldn't do worse based on seeing many others do worse.

Let me help you out with explaining the perceptions you are seeing here.

Wins Fiesta Bowl-"It is his will."

Repeats exact same approach leading to repeated losses-"He moves in mysterious ways, just be patient."
Bit of a stretch here.

I liked your other complaining better.

I was expecting this thread. And my response is this:

What exactly should the offense look like (especially against Iowa)? What are our strengths that we're not taking advantage of?
We have decent tight ends - get them involved: check

Everything else is average or below average on offense. Iowa's defense is NOT giving up deep passing plays.
So throw the ball often: check

I get it, people wanted this game and are angry because it doesn't look flashy. But my question is still, what else would you have done differently given the situation?

QB run? no, we can't afford an injury at QB with pretty much only a true freshman behind him (thanks dekkers)

Play action pass? Ok, maybe, but you know Iowa's defense isn't going to bite much on that.
This kind of response or attitude just sort of assumes we are going to lose and/or not be successful. So why try?

Why even play the game against Iowa then? I know you don't mean it that way. Iowa is not unbeatable. We are getting pretty good at making folks here think they are.

We repeat the same mistakes, play calling year after year, and it's not just Iowa; it's against many of our opponents.

The suggestions to improve the offense, play calling, pace, creativity, have been made. No need to repeat them again.

Some progress is already evident, ST's, OL. Scheme and play calling, meh.

I guess we'll see how things go next game and during the Big 12.

That’s all I’ve heard on here, and elsewhere, since Saturday…. we just can’t beat the almighty Hawks…. they’re too good, and we aren’t built to beat a team like that.

Nobody even gets ticked off anymore…. acceptance has just set in that we are little brother and always will be. This game means nothing to us, and it means everything to Iowa BS. We’re always young it seems…. and inexperienced. Why?

Sorry…. I’m not happy about this BS. Nobody should be. Why even play this game if we can only win it once every 10 years when we get lucky?

CMC said this is the best we’ve played against them…. by getting down 17 points? If that’s our best…. holy s**t!

Or…. if we hadn’t gotten the FG blocked, or thrown a pick six…. we could have won! Why not ask why we’re always the team making all the mistakes and Iowa doesn’t??

Sorry I’m just sick of the loser acceptance attitude.

To me it’s simply they lost a ton of talent on the offense and haven’t adequately replaced it plus the fact they just can’t put together a good OL. NFL talent at RB, TE, WR and QB overcame the OL , but now that talent is gone so the lack of a good OL is even more glaring.

Sure. The thing to do is to pile a bunch of crap on a young team. Destroy any kind of confidence they might gain. Don’t allow any sort of transition period for the new offensive coordinator and new assistants. Just fire them all now. Pay out the millions in contract settlements and then go out and overpay for another coach. Good thinking.

Or perhaps we let it play out and support this young team as they grow and learn from all the new coaches. IMO Campbell deserves the time to right the ship.

My only question here, because ISU generally comes out of the gates sloppy for the first month and in other moments, is do you post like this for other games/teams?

I just feel like there's some revisionist history here.. Last year's offense was bad, that's a given, but we have not had a bad offense in Campbell's previous seasons. Even look at 2021 and go through those games. It was in game execution more than anything that year.

- Purdy fumbles the snap against Baylor to force OT
- We get actually screwed by the refs against WVU (TD call where their receiver doesn't come close to landing in bounds and Breece crosses the goal line but a fumble is called)
- Defense plays horrific against TTU and they hit an NCAA record FG to win
- Lose by 7 at OU but Purdy overthrows a could be TD to tie

Our offense in all of those games played well. The only two games that year where it didn't play well in a loss was against Iowa, who had an insane defense that year and we flat out laid an egg, and then Clemson, where X played one handed and Breece didn't play at all.

Coach Campbell made a plethora of changes up and down the staff this year and some expect the changes to be instant? That's almost impossible, especially when game two you play a defense that is legit.
