Some say give it more time. Others say show some evidence that things are changing.
It’s been two games. It’s a young offense. It’s going to need time and not to play against a top 10 defense in the country. I agree evidence needs to be shown.

Higgins was non existent in the UNI game. Noel was big in punt return in the UNI game. Point being, we didn’t need any WRs to step up or show out vs UNI. Then we play Iowa whose strength is their DBs and now our WR room this year is “abysmal?”

I never thought a loss to Iowa, in week 2, with a young team, and a new offensive staff, would send our fans into such a dumpster fire of a tailspin, but here we are.

What’s our record against them over the past decade? Stop talking like everyone is fixated on one game. It’s not about one game.

It hasn’t been two games, it’s been 100 and some games. Why can’t the “nuclear meltdown over game 2!” people understand that?

Oh you’re complaining about Campbell’s whole career here? Oh brother I can’t help ya there.

Ya I’m not over-reacting to one loss to Iowa, they own us and the HC doesn’t seem to care about that game. If he doesn’t care about that game what game does he care about?

Matt certainly cares about the Iowa game. His scheme and style just hasn’t matched up well against them and Iowa has done a great job in the games. Matt cares about making his teams better, like most coaches. I think you’re being incredibly over critical, and I respectfully disagree with your thought process.

I'd like to see Quaron Adams get a shot at slot. He has speed, and at this point do you trust Noel?
No kidding. And with the offense last in the big 12 you have to re arrange some position players to see what works. I think it also sends a message to those who aren't performing. And I would love to know what is going on with a guy like Greg Gaines right now..

I feel like people forget how bad Iowa State was before Matt Campbell.....
Only a few here are in favor of a coaching change now. Most, like me, want to see this play out. But we are frustrated with the play, and the pattern. Of course we remember our history.

Is it too much though, to want to see improvement in time management, play calling, creativity? Steps that a common fan can see, to try to keep the opponent guessing and out of the box? Give our young players a chance to win?

We can't go toe to toe with most teams? Is that our history or who we are? I don't know. We, more than often, call our team young though. Seems to me that if we are a step behind, or are always 'young', we should be trying to mix things up, diversify all the more. I could be wrong.

We will get eaten up in the new Big 12 with just 'Football 101', middle of the pack or lower. The 'young' excuse, the 'we are Iowa State excuse' also gets old. The coaching (good or bad) is something that needs to be discussed. I'm glad we are talking about it.

We can win at Iowa State if we adapt even just a little more than what we are doing, IMO. I can see the strengths of Campbell. I can also see his weaknesses. At this point it's a pattern of weaknesses that we seem to be discussing.

I am anxious to see how the next two or three years play. I just think they could play out better with even a slight amount more aggression, creativity. What is there to lose? Another off tackle run into a compressed defense, for no gain? How does that help our young players?

… you won’t be allowed back in the club next year or the year after when we’re winning games.
Sure they will. It's not your club and it's OK to be frustrated with repeated coaching mistakes. That's part of being a fan. And the coaching staff can take it.

Also, only a select few would want Campbell fired after this year. He has a lot of good will stored up and most of us know it.

We'll see how things go. If people like me, who are usually not critical, become even more critical next year, then we will have more to talk about.

Sure. The thing to do is to pile a bunch of crap on a young team. Destroy any kind of confidence they might gain. Don’t allow any sort of transition period for the new offensive coordinator and new assistants. Just fire them all now. Pay out the millions in contract settlements and then go out and overpay for another coach. Good thinking.

Or perhaps we let it play out and support this young team as they grow and learn from all the new coaches. IMO Campbell deserves the time to right the ship.
What is the appropriate amount of time for him to fix things? We've had 3 of the last 4 seasons have been disappointing or outright bad and this season isn't showing anything is different so far. Campbell still has no idea what to do against a team who we play every single season. He's been here 8 years.

How many coaches in the country get to do a 3 year rebuild or so when they've already been here for almost a decade?

It’s clear at this point the OC doesn’t matter. Campbell is running the show. I get it’s a freshman qb, but wow how stubborn can you be to constantly run the ball up the middle on first down thinking it will eventually work. If you don’t have the players, get creative and put them in winning positions. If KU can do it, why can’t we?
The offense is creative, unpredictable, entertaining and very awesome! Everyone showed their approval on that TD drive in the stands.

That’s all I’ve heard on here, and elsewhere, since Saturday…. we just can’t beat the almighty Hawks…. they’re too good, and we aren’t built to beat a team like that.

Nobody even gets ticked off anymore…. acceptance has just set in that we are little brother and always will be. This game means nothing to us, and it means everything to Iowa BS. We’re always young it seems…. and inexperienced. Why?

Sorry…. I’m not happy about this BS. Nobody should be. Why even play this game if we can only win it once every 10 years when we get lucky?

CMC said this is the best we’ve played against them…. by getting down 17 points? If that’s our best…. holy s**t!

Or…. if we hadn’t gotten the FG blocked, or thrown a pick six…. we could have won! Why not ask why we’re always the team making all the mistakes and Iowa doesn’t??

Sorry I’m just sick of the loser acceptance attitude.
We used to beat em at a much higher frequency with far less talent under Rhoads and McCarney

The matt Campbell experience is over. It'll take 2 more years to become a formality. Just the way it goes here.

That's a little extreme. But you're right that more than 2 games. We're heading towards game 15 since we lost all of our NFL players and since then we've being completely lost on that side of the ball due to both a lack of talent and bad coaching. The coaching on offense wasn't fantastic with the NFL guys but it was enough to get by.

It doesnt feel Campbell learned much from last year's disaster of a unit though.

The problem is that people remember. And its beginning to feel that way again.

If people remember than they wouldn't feel like its beginning to feel that way. Jesus, we weren't even competitive in so many games.

Does anyone want to talk about the talent problem? Or are we going to pretend that isn’t happening?
What I find interesting is any major talent Campbell found for this team … that talent dramatically improved once it hit the NFL. Purdy, Lazard. Purdy and his success at SF really proves what a bunch of boneheads are coaching our offense now.

Lazard wasn’t a Campbell recruit was he?
