Don't want him gone but the seat is officially hot now. He's got no one to blame but himself after hiring an inexperienced OC from within the program to fix a broken offense. Sometimes you need to get outside your comfort zone to fix a problem. He doubled down and the results are predictable.

My comment to the Campbell detractors last week was to at least wait until a non-Iowa game. Obviously, today was as bad as it gets, so I can't blame anyone for wanting him gone after that.

However, unless a candidate is in house, I don't really seeing it being beneficial to fire before the end of the season. And considering the fact that I still think the talent is there, I'm not counting out today being a ginormous motivator to throw the book out and start from scratch (basically what happened to bring into motion the 3-3-5 defense).

Yes and no.

If he doesn't give other players a chance, notably on the OL, maybe elsewhere - then yes. Because then his stubornness will cost the program yet again.

Didn't hear a ST coach.
Maybe stuck with Manning too long.
Has continued to stick with this offensive approach.
Continues to run the same players out time and time out again and talk them up only to have zero evidence to back him up (Miller, Simmons, Hufford, etc)

I get it, I'm stubborn too. But you can't be so stubborn you refuse to acknowledge you're wrong. Wrong about the way we are capable of playing, forget the way we need to play. Wrong maybe about who needs to be on the field etc... sure, the other guys might be worse, but at least they're young, maybe hungry and might improve. I think the other guys are who they are are.

Are our recruiting classes ranked behind Ohio's?

No but down where we are ranked it don’t matter that much. Here is the 2021 class and u can see the rest of the classes

I think the scariest part for me is Matt has quit on his team. Punting on 4th and inches in your own territory after being successful all day? What the hell. And clearly the guy has no eye for talent, Stanley is better than Noel why isn’t Stanley the starter? He caught everything thrown his way. Also good to see a coach with some time management skills on the other sideline!

What an absolutely asinine thread. Let’s fire the best coach we’ve had ever in the history of our university because we’re off to a slow start during, unfortunately, another rebuilding year with a young offensive roster and the first year with a new offensive staff. I’m sure fans wanted to fire Campbell after we lost to Louisiana too and we went on to win the fiesta bowl that year.
The delusion that fans live in because of John Heacocks system of keeping ISU in striking distance. Campbell is irrelevant on this program, probably caused more damage and is the reason for those lose.

What are you hanging onto at this point? Memories of the Covid Fiesta Bowl year? You can tell the players don't believe anymore dude. It was like that last year. What recruits are going to come to Ames? He's not even the hot name anymore.

I have no clue if I am actually right here, but I suspect the # of head coaches who survive a year 8 OC change due to ineptitude is very ... very low. Probably within 2 years of that OC change they are gone.

That's the problem. Even the most favorable Campbell take doesn't change this, there's not much talent here and there's no reason to think it's coming either.

He won us a freakin fiesta bowl guys.

Of course not. But it’s clear this offense has been inept since Purdy left. A lot of difficulties off the field also this season with gambling sanctions and players getting food poisoning today didn’t help.

But there is no excuse with the play calling today. Why are we not passing to tight ends and WRs more? Why keep trying to run it? This offensive line stinks also so trying to run it continues to make no sense.

Just completely lost hope for this season. These players don’t even care, no energy or passion on the side line.

The Dline doesn’t seem to be creating as much pressure as they did in the UNI game.
