1 - I need to see more progress from the WR room. Route trees and play calling both looked better last week, but OSU's middle was very poor so hard to tell what was real vs placebo. Route trees and getting separation still struggled quite a bit.

2 - Continued progress in play calling. Nobody expects us to suddenly be an air raid offense, but clearly the running game isn't getting anything. OU's defense is much improved this year so I'm not expecting to see much success running up the middle. They are a bit soft in the mid-yardage pass defense so we need to attack it early and often.

3 - We need to be competitive. I hate to think we're back to the "moral victories" stage as that would suggest we've truly lost any and all momentum as a program. I don't think things are yet beyond repair, and with a bunch of young and/or undeveloped guys, we have room to grow.

My wild hopes:
1. Make OU cry.
2. Pain, for them.

More realistic (?) hopes:
1. Win
2. Score 25-30
3. Win

Rather not think about it:
1. OU makes us cry and leaves in style.
2. Offense does ISU offense things, like doing nothing.
3. Defense breaks under pressure of carrying a dead weight unit.

I’ll take the moral victories against teams that have us outmanned ie OU, Texas. I want nothing more than to win, but realistically want to see our guys play hard and hang tough against their 5 stars.

Moral victories against KU or Cincy are bull ****.

1) Agreed but we're not a group that's going to excel at separation. And that's fine. That's where your second point comes into so much play.

2 (#3) I;'m confused. Because you say you hate to think we're into moral victories yet say be competitive, which is basically saying a moral victory? I guess that's what being competitive means to me. Maybe I'm misunderstanding and if I am, that's my bad.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Run the ball - but not entirely as we've tried. Do a little more toss or outside along with inside and don't try to run as much. Mix up, use the pass first, but don't abandon it. Just vary it a little more.

2) Jackson, Bitter & Noel. Yes, others will play at WR but while perhaps not the most explosive grouping, I trust them the most at receiver right now.

3) Defensively, I'm not expecting to shut down Oklahoma but I'm hoping for a more crisp return to the norm under Heacock.

4) Final score, I think could be Oklahoma 27, Iowa State 10 to 13. If the offense will show its development continuing from last week, I think it could be closer or even, a chance for a shocker, but OU's defense is a lot improved, their still Oklahoma and its still a huge early road test...

based on all that, I see it being close for a while, then OU pulling a way. I'd love to beat them, especially in quite possibly the last matchup so I hope I'm wrong

-------------

There are 4 teams I'd take moral victories against.

1) Bama
2) Georgia
3) Ohio State
4) Michigan

Yes, there are more that could probably hang 40+ and beat us 42-0 but outside of the elite programs, I don't want to hear about moral victories.

I want to see how the defense responds after last week, as my hope is it was just a few issues and one of those days (Gundy has done this to Heacock's defense as the outlier most seasons). But if OU lights us up, that would be concerning a bit because their strength on offense is against our strength with our secondary. Hopefully we can force some mistakes.

Offensively it's been noted already from others above, but seeing the adaptability to what is working from the coaching staff. Mixing things up and making OU's defense (which has been lights out) have to make decisions.

Special teams needs to be better than OU's period. We lose that aspect of the game, and we have no chance.

I think we lose something to the tune of 30-21. As long as we see further evolution of the offensive play calling we saw on Saturday, I'll be happy.

I'm not putting much on the defense one way or the other. Without Verdon (I realize he isn't officially out, but it's Campbell) they just aren't themselves.

Don't lose it on special teams either.

all i want to see is progress in some key areas... more trust from the coaches in Rocco, agressive play calling in all 3 phases, young players making big contributions, and the team playing hard and smart all the way to the end.

I think the score is probably close to what the score was last year with OU (27-13). I am not convinced they are back to playing at the level they were under Lincoln Riley.

I'd like to see the OL play be more consistent, when Black was in in the 2nd half last weekend the OL looked much more respectable. I'd like to see Rocco with more consistent time to throw, he had early pressure several times the past couple of weeks where guys just completely whiffed. I don't expect the run blocking to get anywhere, but if they could just get in the way of guys every time it will be an improvement.

Hope Rocco plays well and gains more confidence. He is the key for the next 3 years.

I would like to see two RB in the back field and run some misdirection running plays to see if that helps get the running game going. But if the running game is struggling, don't keep running the ball! Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I'm not expecting a W at OU, but I would like to see sustained progress on offense and the defense to rebound after their performance last week
