I enjoy the Ryder Cup, but you guys take this very seriously.
I don't really take it that seriously. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching most of these guys get plastered simply because they're unlikeable, coddled, twats. I think a lot of the reason Europe wins more than they should based on talent has a lot to do with how each team grew up. The US is mostly affluent dorks who have been given every advantage to get where they are and Europe has far more guys from modest means who have made it.

We slaughtered those working class blokes two years ago.

If you can get out of today 6-2 you'll take it. Ran into a complete buzz saw and just have to hope to play better tomorrow.

With the way they are playing the captains picks haven't really mattered, but having a guy like Sam Burns there is an absolute joke. Guy has been irrelevant all year and was horrible this morning. Only there to share a Vespa around Rome with Scottie.

I wouldn't call him irrelevant. He made it all the way to the Tour Championship and finished in the top 5. He also won the WGC Match play. He has had some consistency issues but he had an overall good season.

This Eurpoean team isn't even close to that team and this golf course isn't even close to that golf course. I'd also argue this team isn't nearly as good as that team. Sheffler is the only guy in decidedly better form. Rickie fell off late. Sam Burns doesn't hit it well and was a really bad choice given you had Lucas Glover and Cam Young as options. Then you have ZJ as captain. LIV also gave Europe an excuse to dump their dead weight for better, younger players who have done well so far. The talent gap just isn't nearly as wide as it has been.

You just can't take a guy like him to Europe in a ball striking contest. He's fine if it's a putting contest at Hazeltine or something, but he just doesn't hit it well enough for a European setup.

I think it’s a misconception that America has more talent than Europe. 2 years ago, no doubt. But Rahm, McIlroy, and Hovland are better than any Americans right now. Aberg is a young phenom and FitzPatrick and Hatton are very solid.

Meanwhile we’re trotting out Morikawa, Burns, and Thomas (today notwithstanding) who’ve been playing awful this year. Plus we kind of got saddled with Harman and Wyndham Clark cause they both won majors (albeit Clark had a really nice year). But those two aren’t at the caliber of player needed to beat Europe in Europe
