He’s got a pretty big melon. Rory has gone hatless in this event multiple times for similar reasons.

So you believe they aren't fitted for their hats before this thing, and can't get a hat made large enough for Cantlay and Rory?

Now.... maybe it just isn't comfortable or something... but I don't believe it doesn't fit him.

It might ‘fit’ but not feel right. These guys are particular AF. They aren’t just wearing some hat they got for Christmas like the rest of us schmucks.

I think it was tongue in cheek, as they were talking about it earlier, and I think it has to do with compensation. Not the route I would go with something like this, but I respect him for taking a stand on his beliefs about it.

As long as you are going to back it up with your play on the course.... who cares as far as I'm concerned. And he did back it up big time.

But if he truly did cause a split in the U.S. clubhouse with his stance, then that might have negatively impacted other guys on the team.

Indeed, he did back it up. I don't buy the split in the clubhouse at all. These guys are adults and professionals. It would be childish to care one way or another about an individual stance.

On to singles: what the hell does the US side even try?

I'd run out Homa, Burns, Cantley, Morikawa, and Thomas first.....hope that Europe tries to end it early and puts Hovland, Rahm, and Rory in those first 5 matches so we have at least a chance to knock out their big guns. Need to win 4 of the first 5 outright for any chance at all.

Speith and Fowler are huge liabilities. Scheffler's confidence looked gone completely after the alternate shot beat down.....hope he gets MacIntyre.

I agree that we need to put our guys playing the best right now out there immediately tomorrow. Europe might be thinking the exact same thing, so there could be some great early matchups.

Put our worst guys at the end since those spots likely won't end up mattering at all. If by chance it does come down to the last several matches somehow... I guess we'll just take our chances at that point and just be thrilled we're still in it.

I’s send out Cantlay, Homa, Scheffler, Morikawa, and Schauffle or Koepka. We have to send out our big guns first to try and extend the tournament.

Granted, I don’t trust Scheffler at all right now. He is mentally broken. Get him with a sports psychologist tonight. On that note I don’t really trust Morikawa either

From a strategy standpoint, I think you have to try and have a couple giant slayers. Unlikely guys who play with heart. Harman and Burns come to mind. Try and pair them with Rahm and Hovland, give them a pat on the rear, and tell them to go get ‘em. Then try and get favorable matchups for the US big dogs.

It’s a snake draft I believe so half of the matchup is out of the US control. Got to get a bit lucky, but mostly just need everyone to be on fire.

**** that. If you want to take a stand as you’ve made 10s of millions of dollars sit out the Ryder Cup and quite acting like a spoiled brat. There are plenty of other guys willing to “sacrifice” their time for that event. We get it, you wanted to go to LIV but couldn’t take the backlash.

It's a blind draw. Each captain submits a list 1 through 12 in the order they'll play.

Cantlay was a beast today. Glad he played!

I don’t work for free either so if that’s what it’s about then I’m fine with it.

Have we considered that he didn’t want to wear the hat because they look terrible? Because they look like a hat you’d buy at a truck stop.

Are you 100% sure about that? I watched it live last time. The captains and vice captains sat a a table and took about 45 minutes to put it together.

Edit. Maybe this is the presidents cup I am remembering. Regardless, the matchups are out.

Not completely sure, but the official Ryder Cup website says its a blind draw. Apparently all of the sessions are that way.

Presidents Cup is different, snake draft format for singles matches at least.....I've seen video of that in the past.
