Okay so this game sucked, but can we talk about how we MIGHT win more games than Iowa this year?

They're better than we are and their schedule is booty cheeks

I like Campbell and love Heacock but it seems we are really getting out in-game coached. OU made a bunch of good adjustments after the first quarter and it seemed we kept trying the same things. Heacock, for a few years, was the king of second half adjustments but that seems to have dried up as of late.

We have a great culture and planning staff needs a lot of in-game management work.

In fairness, it’s easier to make adjustments when you have way better players…

Its very clear we don’t have the talent we did from 19’-21’

We have a talent deficiency compared to our opponents. It’s as simple as that. We needed to upgrade at OL, LB, and WR in the offseason but we don’t use the portal and our recruiting is subpar despite what people will say.

It's funny how you can look like the superior coach when you have better talent at every single position.

I may be in the minority, but I like it. Give me fired up Matt.
I wouldn’t mind it if it happened after a game where we showed some fight, but I think it is especially childish after a bad loss (like the first time) or a blowout (like tonight).

Recruiting kids to come to ISU instead of Oklahoma? Good luck. Every now and then…sure. But not in significant numbers.

Someone on here said the cosches need tobrecruit who they want.

So hopefully they go through the game thread to get that idea.

The proof is in the pudding. On defense, ISU has been very good statistically for years. Bringing more pressure all the time increases the odds of giving up a big play. Our strategy has been to allow the short passes in order to stop the run and big plays and then bring pressure occasionally to keep the offense off-balance. Judging by the stats, I'd say it's working. When the other team has sufficiently superior players, they have a good chance to win in spite of coaching. There's nothing that says they HAVE to make mistakes.
How many times have we seen this defense get picked apart over the past couple of years? TCU, Baylor, OU and others. I like the defense playing teams that do not have good QB's, but when you face one like we did tonight, if you do not pressure him, he will pick you apart, which he did.

I would say when the other team has superior players that is when you need to take more chances not less, because their better players will beat you if you try to go head-to-head with them. When they have better players, you have to get mistakes or force them, or you have no chance to win the game. How did we beat OU a few years ago, we did because Rattler started making mistakes, we never gave the OU QB tonight that opportunity because we didn't force the issue like OU did to our guy.

I'm not at all surprised ISU lost. They are a year away from being better. Losing 6 starters makes a difference.
I mean sure, but they also lost six starters from the LAST PLACE TEAM IN THE BIG 12. Everyone throws that stat around, but we weren’t the ‘85 Bears last season. If we shouldn’t expect them to get better until next year, that will be two and a half lost seasons in a row when players can only play for four year.

I guess I just don’t really see the same signs of optimism that some here seem to be noticing. I am just bummed this is the state the program is in after a promising start to the decade.

This is a TERRIBLE sign and why he just needs to ignore it. Every time Campbell reacts to this garbage, he’s going to hear ten times as many comments the next week. The fact that he got baited into it twice in three weeks is only going to make him a bigger target and increase the pressure he’s already proved he can’t handle.
