Thanks so much to @somecyguy for the first OT thread topic!

What are some cool venues/places you’ve seen a concert?

Most of mine have been around here, but the McMenemen’s Edgefield outdoor venue in Portland, OR was a lot of fun this summer. Very chill, lots of pine trees around, etc.

What are yours?

Red Rocks, Hollywood Bowl, the Gorge (Washington), 1st Ave in Minneapolis.

I always loved the Iowa Jams back in the early 80s at the Iowa Fairground, even though it's not a cool venue.

Codfish Hollow is my favorite venue in Iowa to see a band. The quintessential quirky spot, it's got everything: parking in a field (where you can camp as well), a barn where the show is, a ride in an old bus that you hope holds together down the hill, a dude in a cowboy hat who announces shows and walks through the crowd with a bubble gun, artistic vendors, food trucks, campfires, and a ton of camaraderie.

It's the best.

Not "cool" but 30 Seconds to Mars used to come to Des Moines all the time more than 20 years ago.
I saw them open for Chevelle at Toad Holler on Des Moines south side. Couldn't have been more than 100 people there.

My roommate and I saw Nirvana at the Palmer Auditorium in Davenport during their In Utero tour. You could have filmed the Hoosier's movie there because it looks like a small school gym. It took forever to get inside due to patting everyone down entering, but it didn't matter because as soon as Nirvana took the stage, everyone started blazing up. My first experience with getting baked on second hand smoke.

Not much, maybe Twisted Sister at The Agora Ballroom in New Haven Ct. Also saw Todd Rundgren's Utopia at the Agora in Hartford.

Behind you
The Col Ballroom (Davenport) - The Replacements
The Vic (Chicago) - Pavement
Metro (Chicago) - Morrissey
Palmer Auditorium (Davenport) - Smashing Pumpkins
Ellie Caulkins Opera House (Denver) - Morrissey
Mission Ballroom (Denver) - Wilco

All of these were small, tight venues. Best kind of place to see a great band.

Saw Smashing Pumpkins play at Palmer, you couldn't be more right, basically a HS gym. That was the hottest, sweatiest, loudest, most cramped and uncomfortable concert experience I've ever had, and it was glorious.
