I think the KXNO hosts have been pretty critical of Ferentz lately and the situation with Brian and they usually were pretty critical of Barta and all the messes he was in over the years too. Fran usually gets some bad pub from time to time too when he blows up. Yeah the station as a whole probably leans pro-Hawks but they have spent plenty of time on the negative stuff when it happens too.

Wanting Brian out as OC is just a test of if someone is completely insane or not.

Opinions on Fran are a better litmus test. Certain Iowa media homers act as if Fran is the greatest coach of all time and others can admit he's achieved about 1/3 of what ISU has in the same time frame.

Nothing you said is inaccurate. It's pretty much why KXNO local radio has gone from appointment radio to I'll listen if I've caught up on everything else I listen to. And I don't feel compelled to go back and listen to any shows I missed.

This is me. I have my list of pods I listen to, some time sensitive, some not. I don't go to the Murph and Andy pod unless I'm caught up on everything else.

You could be right. But then I wouldn't know. I would find it hard to believe they would change their tone in such a short amount of time. But hey, whatever.

I just get annoyed by the "woe is me" ISU attitude in cases where it isn't warranted, and this seems like one.

Murph and Andy each have some fairly annoying traits. Murph IS obsessed with Caitlyn Clark (I just kinda find it funny) and Andy will have some very bizarre takes from time to time. But it's pretty clear that they don't have it in for ISU fans, or for ISU in general. If anything, I think Murph is kind of a closet Cyclone. I do suspect Andy prefers Iowa (or at least views them more warmly), but I can't recall any example from the past 5 years of him being a **** about ISU.

What do people think of Hassle on 2GNC? I think he gives both schools an awfully fair shake, despite being a Hawkeye fanboy. And I'm asking outside of just hating Hassle for being Hassle. You either love him or hate him, I'm in the former.

I love Hassell. Once you know his shtick, can't really get offended by anything he says lol. Plus, I love how he pisses off Iowa fans lol.

Hassel's Lou Holtz impersonation speech to ISU motivating them for the bye week was A+++

It was a ways back but the way Murph/Andy defended the "Alan Lazard should commit to Notre Dame" interview as something any good journalist had to do...if that didn't annoy someone they aren't a real ISU fan.

2GNC has become must listen for me. I'll admit it didn't even give it a try initially because I found Hassel absolutely annoying on other platforms, but there was a topic this summer I wanted to hear Williams' take on, so I tuned in and I haven't missed it since. Yeah, Hassel can still be annoying at times (the placenta thing has run its course but it is what it is), but he's not as annoying as I perceived him to be. And he's quite knowledgeable on what they do discuss.

It's my favorite sports pod or sports radio show ever. Pretty easily.

The whole "elitist" vs "country bumpkin" thing adds some humor even if it's exaggerated characters and they aren't that different in real life.

I remember Rhoads making a scene about the local media wanting Lazard to go to ND when he committed and thought it was cringey.

I didn’t ever listen to KXNO at that time, so I truly have no idea what interview you’re referencing.

Not true. It was a special sit down interview and it was during the newscast. They may have tried to do a skit on it because that is what they do at KXNO/WHO. Double down, tell people they don’t have a dog in the fight and “if it gets people to watch/listen then it’s working and we win we fooled you, yadda yadda yadda”

They may have tried to spin it that way but a young WHO TV reporter (massive hawkeye fan) interviewed him and pressured him about flipping to Notre Dame an insane amount of times in the short piece. It was wildly unprofessional and super cringe inducing.

Murph and Andy defended their coworker as if it was something that had to be done in order to be a real journalist (they defended it on jouralism, not that it was a skit). The whole thing was an absurd over the top dig at ISU.

You can say you didn't like CPR getting visibly mad about it in pressers as Al_4_State just did, but CPR didn't just get crazy mad out of thin air. It was a pretty stupid display of hawkeye homerism from DesMoines media and M&A were champions of it instead of being honest about what it was.

REALLY enjoy Hassle. He is very talented overall (i always loved his humor on WHO)....but i think he is very fair to both sides, critical when it is needed for both sides, and doesn't take himself too seriously. He also knows his stuff beyond Iowa/ISU, which is a very healthy perspective to add to the discussions.

He and Chris (and Van Wink) have a great flow to their discussions/ribbing/etc.
