He's not taking about daily limit. He's taking about length of time once you hit 80% . He made a really good analogy. Watch the first 20 minutes and turn it off. You'll also see Rogan shoot a compound bow into a cyberpunk.
Is he talking about DC charging? Anytime you get over 80%, charging time slows down. Everyone I've talked to says the big thing to learn is to keep the car in the 20-80% on long trips as the recharge times are quicker.

He compares charging to a parking lot. Electrons have to find a spot and when the battery is not close to being full, it's really easy and fast for that process.

It will be interesting to see where the charging stations end up. Destination charging like Target, etc versus road trip charging like gas stations. Workplace charging is an obvious one as well.

I had to change my vote. I think I'm ready to jump in the the ev realm. I've been looking at some used Model S 3-4 years old. I just need to sell my ice dd.
What is the used Tesla market? I read that Tesla has the top 3 cars for ‘losing value after one year‘ list. Are you seeing this?

Is this what you're talking about?


I assume the huge price decrease along with the tax breaks have hurt resale. Before this year, that wasn't the case.

Even if they can get charging times down to just 5 or 10 minutes, I'd expect home/work/destination charging to account for a bulk of it. There will still be a market for people traveling, but I'd be surprised if we just swapped out gas for electricity and kept everything else about the same. Am I going to charge up at home/work/while I shop/eat or will I make a separate stop to charge up? Yeah, probably the first unless I can't avoid it for some reason.

It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out, because gas stations don't really make much money selling gas. They make their money inside the store, but gas is what drives the foot traffic.

Different article, but are the 3 and Y the worst resale Teslas? Not up on it, but what Is the reason for the poorer resale with these two models?

When that article was published, those two had just had price decrease along with the tax rebate. Since then, the S and X have had price decreases but no tax rebate. The 3 is also getting a redesign so they had to move a lot. They also can't hide a bunch at dealerships.

After rebates, my wife MYLR will cost around $44k. A year ago, people paid $66k for the same car. That is what kills resale

Does your Tesla have an issue with discoloration on the door trim?
We have a few Teslas in the parking lot at my work that I walk by most mornings. They all have weird discoloration the black door trim.
Almost looks like water spots or maybe damage from the sun.

I get that, it's from car washes, whatever plastic they use mixes with the chemicals to create a weird haze. Easy to wipe off when I clean my car by hand.

It's 2 things that are killing the resale. It was over priced because of demand in covid and then rebates. Once those two are gone it will level out.

I'm really surprised a restaurant chain hasn't started to put in fast chargers. That would be money. Sell the electricity and then most people traveling would probably go in and grab something to eat. 20-30 min, you finish up eating and the car is ready to go.

Had a chance to drive an F150 Lightning over the weekend.

I'm definitely not a truck guy but it was still a fun drive. A lot more nimble than a typical F150.

Made me feel better about my next car being a BEV in a couple years when I hand my hybrid off to the kid.

I’m 5 months into owning a Wrangler PHEV and the drive and feel is night and day different when on battery vs ICE. After driving on battery 80% of the time, it feels so sluggish driving on gas. I drove someone else’s car recently and you get spoiled quickly on the handling of BEV.

Still not sure I’d be ready for full BEV due to the charging in infrastructure in central Iowa/Midwest.

It’s coming. Everyone is working on this right now. Obviously all the gas station chains are, Circle K has started rolling them out at Holiday stores here in Minnesota. Pilot Flying J and Travel Centers are going to be massive players in it as well. They have ideal locations for road trips.
