Unfortunately these meetings likely had a lot of D measuring. Protecting games for ISU would screw over other teams down the line somewhere and make it "unfair" for someone (like Houston).

So instead of royally screwing a few times and creating tension, you have to spread the pain across everyone.

I'm all for playing at every venue once every four years.

But you can easily do that while still protecting rivalries.

Hell, each team could have as many as 3 and still pull that off.

Big whiff by the conference.

What rivalry are we missing out on?

And no KSU is not our rival no matter how much people try to force the stupid Farmageddon thing. A forced rivalry isn't a rivalry (see NE/IA for example).

Fact is ISU really doesn't have a Big 12 rival.

You'd have to think Iowa State/Iowa draws more butts in seats at higher prices per seats and is a better television product to sell to networks than Iowa's swashbuckling 10-7 victory (needed to block a field goal... twice... to prevent overtime) against the IUPUI-Shipshewana Barnbuilders or whatever MAC team.

And the fact is that next year we have what might be (emphasis on might) the equivalent of a big 10 west schedule. That’s been the dream!!

Just sucks not being able to have even one conference opponent you can count on playing each season. Those sorts of games have been essential to the fabric of college football.

So is this better than pods?

I dont think so.

longest never interrupted continuous rivalry will come to an end in 2027.

So much for protected rivals.

Takes what 4+ years to see every team, where a pod system would see everyone play each other, every other year.

Sorry but this schedule sucks.

Exactly. Our rival is Iowa no matter how much people want to convince themselves they aren't.

I agree. I’d have loved for the big 12 to stay at 10. I liked playing every team and being morally superior to the Big 10.

But that’s not life. And one only looks to the west to see how we could have been screwed. Overall, this is fine. And actually kind of good.

the floor is yours, lay it out!

I did in a different thread. Too lazy to do so again. The simple math is a 3 + 6 (rotating each year) model.

Even if 3 is deemed undesirable by the conference, I don't see why the conference can't at least give us one.

This sucks.

I swear people on here would have preferred to just keep the conference as the hateful 8 and no tv contract rather than miss playing KSU for one GD year.

We aren’t even their biggest rival.

And it's not even close. Same goes for us. They aren't even close to our biggest rival.
