I hope Waterloo Columbus is the next one out.

Spirit Lake overcame 5 TOs ( including 2 90+/- yard pick sixes) and a West Lyon kick return with a minute left with this 80 plus yard catch and run TD to win. Probably the best high school game I've ever seen.

It kind of sucks that the 2 Ankeny schools must play each other in the semifinals. Would have been cool to have an all Ankeny state championship game.

Imagine how many state championships Ankeny would win if they hadn't decided several years ago to split their talent in half. As an Ankeny resident, though, I'm glad they did. Gives more kids an opportunity to participate.

ACGC/Madrid was a battle. Madrid 21 ACGC 14.

ACGC was driving towards the end of the game. They run the old school wing T offense so they were eating the clock and moving the ball 4:5 yard chunks at a time. Got down to about the 20 yard line with 1:30 to go down 7 and tried to throw the ball (they have like 10 attempts on the year) and it was tipped at the line and intercepted by Madrid.

Why do they make 8 man start at 10 when there aren't night games? Seems like a 1 and 4 game would be fine.
