What are you arguing for then? Why are you arguing that we are getting out-coached? I will actually step away myself after this post, but I’m so sick of the morons coming out and overreacting to every loss. Nobody likes to lose, but losing happens…and we have a good coach. Dusty Baker just walked away from baseball in part because of fans and bloggers who thought they were smarter than professional coaches…and I’m over it too.
I don’t think anyone on this board would claim Campbell is an in-game wizard, right? He’s a culture and 4-year player developer and that’s great. My argument is if he lost a bit of his stubbornness with scheme we’d probably have an additional win or two this year. That doesn’t equate to wanting a new coach.

actually we didn’t score any points there
Oops, I didn't recognize that. So, getting points was more likely at the 2? I think so. AND that was entirely the officials on that play. This was not this crews best night of officiating.

Some people on here would say that if we didn't score from the 31 there, we didn't deserve to win the game. You have to just overcome every screwed up call where you made an extraordinary effort, which is the difference in almost ALL close games.

We finally got an excellent return from Noel and the refs screwed it up and took away a highly likely score. There is no Arguing this point. The officials affected the game by at least 7 points. Shpuld we play better, yup. Should they call a better game, yup.

There is no question most crews allow that play to go on and fix it on replay. These idiots did not.

And one more thing, Maybe refs should be forced to take basic physics. Because that on a rope forward fumble review was just completely ridiculous

In fairness to Campbell, I don't know how he doesn't go even more crazy with some of the subtle screwjobs ISU gets.

Not resetting the playclock, making ISU waste a timeout when they are trailing in the 2nd half?

Ruling a kick return out at the 31 that went to the 3?

Personal foul on a sideline tap, and a toss at the edge that started inbounds?
His clock awareness though is just brutal. He would have burned a timeout anyway just because. If you watched that third quarter you would have sworn they were ahead by three scores not behind by three scores. There is definitely some things that separate Matt from a good coach to being a great coach. I think the list is easy to depict.

Was at the game and it was insane how long the ref spent reviewing the not-a-fumble. The other zebras just stood there watching it play over and over again on the Jumbotron.

There might have been a riot if that call wasn’t overturned.

Ugh, worse than I thought.

First half had some really ridiculous officiating.
Yeah I mean that blown whistle on the return is absolutely egregious and likely cost us a TD (minimum a FG). It's been said by so many people involved in officiating during broadcasts these guys are trained to let the play go unless you are absolutely 100% sure of what you see. There's just no way in hell you can blow that play dead.

I just have a gut feeling. Just like I felt we would completely crap the bed against Kansas, although we did keep this game closer than I thought we would.
I'd like to think we will beat BYU. They are reeling a bit, and have some QB issues too. But they will be playing at home at night, a huge advantage for them.

We need the BYU game. The players and coaches want to make bowl eligibility. I hope we come out with a great game plan and play
with our hair on fire. I think we can win it. I hope the bad BYU shows up.

The last 2 games will be very tough to find a dub.

Was just about to post this. Wasn’t even close to stepping out.

It’s a massive flaw in the sport that they pick and choose when to blow a play dead and nullify review of some of the worst mistakes, none of the players stopped at all. I mean he got tackled 30+ yards down field after the play was supposedly dead.

This combined with the most inexplicable fumble call in history are pretty nuts to have happened in same half hurting the same team at home.

The fumble thing didn’t hurt us since they got it right on review.

Just got home. Thoughts resonate around three things. (1) No offense for three quarters was brutal. (2) Defensive backs coverage overall was abysmal. It seems like we’ve gone back to the last football coaching staff where we frequently gave up first downs on 3rd and long. Let alone 4th and long. And finally (3) The offensive line just didn’t show up most of the game. No time in the pocket, lots of missed blocks that allowed plays to blow up. Woof. Great comeback thwarted by defensive miscues.

Liepold’s staff called, and their team executed, plays that nobody…I mean…nobody else would have called.

Yes. We absolutely got out coached tonight. 100%. But don’t act like this happens all the time.
Liepold has been out coaching guys for 15 years. Campbell is damn good, but Liepold won the night. No shame in that. It happens.

Yep I agree with all that. Offense and defense today looked equally terrible. Over and over I kept saying where the **** are the safeties? How does a dime stack defense end up with no safety help *and* no pressure on a QB so many times?

The offensive scheme was total ass, and the line missed blocking assignments at a record rate yet again. KU ran a lot of blitzes and we ran no plays to take advantage until the 4th quarter.

And Rocco made the worst throw of his career for that pick six. That was just unbelievably bad. I was actually stunned with how bad that throw was, and I think Higgins was too, since he just kind of stood there instead of trying to stop the corner from scoring.

Can’t come out as conservative offensively as tonight and expect to win next week in Provo.

Horrible coaching and officiating most of the game. Really pathetic and disappointing with the platform the team had tonight!

What was the tv explanation on the fumble? That was such garbage.

The team missed the moment tonight in a big way. You don’t get many of those that mean that much, and they missed the opportunity to seize it. Really disappointing. Young team, sure, but it was more than that tonight.
