For this offense to perform at a high level, Lipsey needs to be on the floor. There will be drop off when he’s on the bench.
Sure, but I don't think the dropoff is so bad that h has to play 40 minutes a night. He can get some rest if he needs it.

If he were 6'4" he would be a lottery pick next spring.

Time will tell, but he is the most
important part of this team from offensive standpoint.

Watching the game with my wife last night and Paveletzke enters the game. She goes "Number 1 looks like he's in 10th grade!" My father in law, who is a huge hawk homer, was watching too and based on when Pav entered the game, he was confused and thought he was one of the walk ons. "He's not bad! Looks like he can play a little!"

Our posts are nasty. Not overly skilled but they're here to bully people.

Imo the staff appears to be very good at defining roles for players and those guys know the assignment.

Analysis.................Green Bay was awful. Probably would have a tough time winning the 4A title in high school.

With that said.....back court will be the strength this year. Front court, way too early. There is no rim protector, and Robert is, well.......Robert. Will have to see how that unfolds. Omaha gets the game to slow down for him will make a huge impact on that area.

Offensively.......I don't care who was making them, the fact they were letting it fly is a trend in the right direction. Get another couple of guys to become threats along with Milan will make a huge difference in where this team finishes.
No rim protector? I haven't seen the stat yet, but don't recall Green Bay with a lot of points in the paint, or even shot attempts in the pain. Ward swatted at least one paltry attempt away as I recall.

Why do fans expect a defensive drop off? We're longer and arguably more athletic than a year ago. I don't think it'll drop much at all. We'll probably play at a faster pace, so teams will score more, but I don't see the defensive efficiency going down that much.
For me it was just we played so hard and tough last year. Yesterday we had that same effort with more athleticism so I agree. Now that I've seen it we could be better.

Yeah, I'm with you. Ward showed at VCU that he is/can be a great rim protector. And Biliew and Watson will be solid secondary rim protectors on rotations. As you alluded to, the main thing is just that the no-middle defense keeps the offense away from the rim in the first place, so it's tough for a shot blocker to be as flashy consistently. Osun had a tough time adjusting to that last year, and it wasn't until the first stretch of conference play that he got in a groove with finding the right mix of shot blocking and protecting the rim by denying the paint.

Nice analysis by Williams. Agree with a lot of his points! Should be a fun year with so much more offensive potential than we've seen in a while.

I’m looking forward to Pav hitting some key three pointers down the road. There’s a reason why Otz signed him. He’ll be fine.

People are acting like he's some high school kid we plucked out of rural Wisconsin or something. He averaged 15 and 4 as a freshman at Wofford, which is traditionally a pretty good program. He's not some scrub.

I think my biggest takeaway is that ESPN+ games have a sideline reporter...? Who knew?

I'm guessing the overall idea is, we add players who are more productive offensively, so naturally won't be as focused/gifted as defenders. As if a player can't do both well.

It probably will depend on what our tempo numbers are. Faster paced = more times up and down the floor, more fatigue. If you play a slow offense you at least get an 8 second break every time the ball gets walked up the court. Then in theory if you have to rotate more you get drop offs when the subs come in (ie they get scored on more).

That being said I really like our mix, tons of athletic spiders to choose from and mix and match.

I mean, they are bad but they are still a D1 basketball team full of former all-state players haha.

Green Bay is bad (#306) but not close to one of the worst teams in the country. We have a couple teams on the schedule that will be worse including Lindenwood on Thursday.

Their leading scorer last night, Noah Reynolds, was committed to Wisconsin before flipping because his brother got a job on GB's staff. He averaged 15 a game in the Mountain West last year. He could start on some average to bad P5 teams. There will be a lot of low majors with a similar roster but won't have a guy like that.

Yeah I noticed that they said he averaged double digits at Wyoming so I was wondering why someone like that would transfer to Green Bay but that makes sense.

And was invited to Team USA camps. The dude can play. Hope he can find some PT because he shot 117 threes at Wofford and made nearly 40% of them. Those are good numbers for a very large sample size. Gilbert is a 39% 3 point shooter at UNLV, with less shots taken over 2 years, but that gives us some belief that Gilbert can stretch the D as well.

Was really impressed with Keshon Gilbert last night. He is a dude on both ends. Will take some pressure off Tamin offensively and guard the opposing teams best perimeter guy. His size and athleticism popped.

Overall, I thought we passed the eye test. A lot of different ways we can play. CuJo had an off night but he'll be fine. I'd expect him to shoot it much better later this week.

Be patient with Omaha. You'll see flashes but it will take some time for him to settle in.
