I'm ok with Milan jumping to the NBA after his 4 years here. Just don't pull a Grady on draft night and wear a sequined Victoria's Secret robe. That was was embarrassing.

Could be similar path as Tyrese where there are some things that are just off the charts elite but not having the absolute perfect body/athleticism keeps him as 2-3 year college player.

Talking best case that the kid is a beast. I think a lot of these shots would be going in against anybody, he's creating a lot of space and a lot of them are difficult shots rather than standing wide open taking corner 3s.

Tyrese was very obviously ready to run an NBA offense and a world class passer with elite wing span. The very first time I saw him play I wondered how the scouts and recruiting sites could be so obviously wrong to not have him as a top 20 player. He was skinny and his shot looked weird but that wingspan and court vision was INSANE...turned out the weird shot is also among the best handful of shots in the world.
Those step back/fade aways from all over the court are almost impossible to defend at this level. That is our "need a bucket right now" play if I ever saw one. Just isolate him on a side and let him go to work.

I'm not sure that shot is defendable at any level.

The only question I have with Milan is if someone can play elite "deny" defense and prevent him from getting the ball. Once he gets it nobody can stop him from getting that shot off. Can the better teams keep the ball out of his hands? That's the bigger question.

Until foul trouble, complete defensive ineptitude (it's not his strong point but he's been far from inept here), or strong denial defense keep him from getting the ball or off the floor he should be shooting at least 20 times a game. When you have a weapon like that, a legit 50% jump shot shooter, you want him shooting as much as he can. Not only will we score it will draw the defense out and open up a lot of things for the rest of the team.

Milan should be leading the team in shots on a consistent basis. It shouldn't even be close really.

Re-watching the IDST game, Milan did not get enough touches for scoring opportunity early on. He is already at Niang's freshman level where he has to touch the ball every 1/2 court possession.

Maybe not every time down the floor but it should definitely be most of our half court possessions. Until he proves he can't make (every kind of ) shots, he should be shooting at LEAST 5 more times a game. When the dude is 60+ % from every that should be 20 plus.

A lot of people have rushed to C Jones' defense on my criticism of his shot selection and volume (regardless of where it's coming from) but 30-50% of that is because of Milan. There is simply no world that exists where Jones should be approaching Milan's volume, let alone exceeding it. One is special and exceedingly efficient (offensively) while the other isn't. It's a no brainer.

I mean, if that world did exist it would be a 3 game span against absolute cupcakes

Possibly, depending on the reasons. If that reasoning however (as Otz put it) is that Jones has a green light because he's a "volume shooter" then no, there is literally no world in which that should exist. Your obstinance on this issue is always as perplexing as the Otz quote itself.

Note quite, but almost.

My obstinance?!??!? LOL

Sounds like a make-or-break game against Grambling this weekend for Milan vs. CJones shot count. It absolutely won't affect the outcome of the game, but it could portend the whole season!

Absolute gold here.

Like TJ and staff are scheming hard core for these early games beyond sticking to the general plan and seeing what a bunch of players and lineups can do once it's a 15-20 point lead.

The NBA does not play defense consistently in the regular season.
The playoffs are obviously a different story.
Of course college players are worse at playing defense, but NBA players objectively do not give 100% night in/out.
NBA players have essentially admitted it. Coaches have all about implied it.
Idk why people get so defensive when someone says that about the NBA vs college game.

As I recall, Milan narrowed his choices to UCLA and ISU. After he committed to Iowa State, there were these UCLA guys on a podcast who were just incredulous. It was just beyond their comprehension how that could happen. Typical California, nothing matters outside our state.

Well, fast forward. Milan is starting on a team that is 10-2. Playing for a great coach. With some great teammates. In the far superior conference over PAC12 or over any conference. And who would want to play PAC12 anyway? Name their top teams. Arizona. That's it! And Colorado will likely have a good season because they are playing 10 crappy teams twice. We are the ones who should be incredulous wondering how he even considered the currently 6-6 UCLA.

I think Izzo made a late push for Milan too. Glad he chose ISU. Not sure how long he will stay but want to see him and Rock on the floor together.

Huh? UCLA has gone to a Final Four and 2 Sweet Sixteens in the past 3 years. They went 27-8 and 31-6 in the seasons during MM’s recruitment. They've been really good Since Mick Cronin was hired.

Also it’s UCLA one of the most stored basketball programs in history. They may have had a rough start to the season but this post is kind of weird.
