OSU is in over texas by a lot, FSU is complicated now with their QB, bama has beat no one but LSU, and their loss is worse than OSU. Plus they will lose to Georgia.

Georgia, Michigan, Pac12, then it’s OSU or FSU. Texas needs a big win in the championship to move up.
If FSU beats Florida and a ranked Louisville to go 13-0, I don’t care if 4th-string Kyle McCann Jr. is their QB, they have to be in.

If the committee overlooks an undefeated P5 champ in favor of one or more 1-loss teams for the playoff, they’re openly admitting they don’t know how to do this. You win all your games with a P5 schedule, you’re in, damn it, I don’t care about injuries.

FSU's backup is probably better than tOSU's starting QB anyway.

Disagree. That win at Bama is better than anything Ohio State has and the CFP has been dying to get a chance to have Texas in there. Only chance they may get here in the four-team format.

Texas has bama as a win which is only 3 spots higher than Penn State, the Notre dame vs KSU is a wash currently, but the bama win gets worse with a loss to Georgia. OSU is also ranked 5 spots higher than texas and their one loss is to a significantly higher ranked team.

Texas has the huge advantage of winning against OU in the championship and then they have it.
But Texas will be a conference champion and comparing Penn State and Bama is laughable. Same Penn State team as every year. Can beat and beat easily, every team that isn’t in the top-ten and then get completely outclassed by the top-ten teams.

I don’t disagree but bama has been very rough this year and the rankings are almost the same. Like I said texas gets the massive advantage of playing in the championship game which will decide it

You know, this discussion (particularly about an undefeated FSU maybe not getting in) is why I hate hate HATE the whole playoff committee setup. Anytime you give the power to decide playoff qualifiers to a group of humans, you end up with human biases (conscious or unconscious) coming into play. The committee has proven over and over again that they have no scruples about changing their positions about what’s most important from year to year, depending on which team might benefit more.

“Not having that 13th CCG data point is too important” becomes “Finishing second in an SEC division just proves that team is stronger than this other CCG champion.” “The eye test” or “we think Team A would beat Team B on a neutral field” is nothing but imaginary standards. And don’t get me started on how the committee can manipulate the early CFP rankings so it helps them get to the final four they want.

Now, to be fair, in most years the last couple of weeks have just seemed to work out, with the right teams winning when they needed to so as a generally accepted Best Four made the playoffs. It’d just be so perfect if now, in the final 4-team playoff year, we ended up with absolute chaos and seven or eight teams with valid claims for those four spots … then we’ll see what a “great job” this human committee is gonna come up with.

I am not holding my breath for much wisdom.
